I opened Final Fantasy 8 . . . in the middle of finals week! This is my first time playing through the game and it is incredibly addicting. So my question is: HOW DO I STOP!?!?!? Help me! I've got work I have to get back to...

Maybe it will if you remember all the bad things that have been said about FF8: simple story, confusing system for ability learning, no-good character design and development, random battles, too-long spells and summons...of course, if you don't have any trouble with those (like me ) then you're pretty much stuck...though if you lend me your PS, maybe that can help.

Whatever you do, DON'T start playing the Card Game yet. It gets easier to get better cards later on in the game, and the card game can be REALLY addiciting. Even my brother, who doesn't play RPG's, got addicted to the card game. Just use mind over matter and willpower!

          1. "Accidentally" lend it to a friend
          2. Use pure determination to curb the addiction
          3. Avoid eye contact with the game ... you will forget about it in due time .aThe beginning of Eternity, the end of Time ...b

Yeah, I think I would enjoy the game a lot more if there were less battle encounters. (My god, it's like every two seconds!!! ) And the summons, while breathtaking the first couple of times are just a pain in the butt every other time after that.
I can't stop playing just because of that though. The characters are too cool! That dance scene with Rinoa and Squall is just TOO CUTE! It's like trying to get my boyfriend to dance...
                "C'mon!"
                "Uh...no, I don't dance."
"Come...ON!#$%!" *Drags him by the hand.*
Hehe...I think I'll have to save that and show it to him...

True, true, the one thing that game excels at (in my view) is emotions. Especially Squall and Rinoa's whole thing through the game, but there are a few others. That's the main reason I love that game. Oooh, once you finish the game, though, you should check out those writings 4nGeLuS posted not too long ago. They're great, but they have a lot of spoilers, so read them when you finish the game. Here is the link, in case you didn't see them before.

I think the most romantic scene in Final Fantasy VIII was when Squall and Rinoa just got on the Ragnorok after floating in space for 15 minutes. I could feel that raw emotion as Squall blew off Rinoa's attempt to hug him.
For being a love story, it is ironic that no one over the course of the game ever said, "I love you."

I remember that scene. That definitely was a good one. Personally I loved the scene in which Squall takes Rinoa on his back and carries her over the long bridge heading for Esthar...
