I guess that wouldnt be an extreme example. Mezzo Forte?
But as something that would piss off a ton of american mothers who dont know anything about anime. Yes.

I liked the anime more than the manga, even thou it was a crap load more violent.

It doesn't take much more than Pokemon to piss the average non-anime-savvy parent off. -_-
Did you really like Hellsing anime more than the manga? The second half of the anime kinda annoyed me in the way that it didn't really make much sense. How they ripped the manga storylines then tried to fit them together in a different way them didn't really work. Plus the humour just isn't there in the anime. *wishes they had been able to animate as far as volume five because it's just great*

All it takes is Pokemon to piss the average non-anime-savvy parent off; I'm sure we all remember the Pokemon card lawsuit that popped up a few years back. ;onot allowed

I think it has to do with the fact that I watched the anime first, then read the manga.
There were some things in the anime I liked better than the manga. The anime is alot darker than the manga, and the subject matter was also alot darker.
The manga is of course alot more carefree and then *splash* gallons of blood. I thought the anime (while a little confuseing because the story goes on after the anime ends) seemed to have more substance behind it.

I watched the anime then read the manga, too. Just the fact that you get none of the motivation for why anyone does anything in the anime bothers me. Well alright maybe I'm exaggerating... but the storyline is just better later in the manga than the anime. *cries because they couldn't animate the Rio chapters* And Alucard is better characterised in the manga. But anyway...

The article was an OP/ED piece by a woman who shares a very typical American view on animation (ie, cartoons = for kids).
As far as blasting Cartoon Network, she's barking up the wrong tree. CN submits the show for ratings by the TV Parental Guidelines Monitoring Board, and they rate the show based on a variety of criteria. Her beef should lie with them.
Perhaps this woman should take a more active role in what her children may watch as opposed to simply trusting the idiot box's V-chip to self-censor content for her children?

Exactly. -_- TV is not an alternative to parenting....
