Everybody. Ive Got To Tell You. The Playstation 2 is not worth the money. Its got good games but that is the only reason why people go for the money. if they had Metal Gear Solid 2 for the Dreamcast and PSX. I Guarantee nobody would get it for the Playstation 2 due to the fact that playstation in usa is 300.00 DOLLARS>.. CMON WHAT A RIPP OFF! the only reason why you would buy it is for the games and the dvd player.. well if i buy it it will be for the games.. you know what back then when it was sold out everywhere people were getting it like crazy cuz they thought...hey .. since so many people are buying it.. it must be a pretty good system ya know? now after only 6 months of release.. its on store shelfs by the dozens... i see more psx2's there then dreamcasts and u know why.. dreamcast comes at a lower price, with the same graphics,with there own ISP also.... the only thing that is missing in this is the dvd player.. playstation 2's dvd player SUCKS. i could get a cheap 100 dollar dvd player that works than that.. i cant even get a dvd player with one small scratch to work on the psx2 dvd player.. its a level one dvd player....DREAMCAST VS PLAYSTATION 2. DREAMCAST WINS
now .. for the issue of the rumored to be greatest nintendo system ever Gamecube..its released to fall from the trees very soon now along with the microsoft xbox..if you havent noticed lately nintendo is doing a very good job with there games because they try to get little kids to beg there mommys to get them the gamecube or nintendo 64 and of course they do.. when gamecube comes out.. its gonna be even more then the playstation 2.you ever wonder why there covers have all bright colors? because little kids like bright colors.. there just like cigarettes.. geting little kids to get it... and whats with pokemon.. its arealdy old and stupid.. but still they insist on making more and more games for in..go get something else.gawd damn when i go in blockbuster and into the nintendo 64 system it blinds me at so many colors are in there.. i mean every case must come with 90 colors on it...gamecube will be the same.. i bet it will be cost 350 dollars..now see the thing i am anticipating is the Microsoft's first game system XBOX.I mean it has to be good.. awesome computer games, computer graphics.. and it will include internet and the dvd jeanra.. oh yea did i mention i was watching tv and i noticed they were at the e3 convention talking to a nintendo representive..they said that they are not putting in any special think like psx2 and xbox and dreamcast like a internet pack and a dvd player.. u know why? KIDS DONT BUY DVD'S!!! AND THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THE INTERNET!!!! Xbox is gonna have awesome games made buy all the companys that make PC games and System games..The XBOX may be pricy.. but i think it will be a extremely good deal and will live up to the hype unlike the psx2 and gamecube....GAMECUBE VS XBOX.. XBOX WINs.. You go Microsoft! PLEASE POST A REPLY ID REALLY LIKE TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS!!!

and here i was thinking it was the games that made the system..

if you wanna get games that are exclusive to a certain system, your gonna have to either buy that system, or quit ur moaning! theres not much u can do about it..

remember, the PS2 is relatively new compared to the Dreamcast.. think back to first generation PSX games.. from what we are starting to see now, developers are beginning to tap into the PS2s real power.. also, graphics arent the only thing that make a great game. i personally go for gameplay rather than graphics. im not saying that i dont like FMV or amazing graphics, but id rather play an engrossing game with graphics that arent so good as another game that has no plot.

what are you trying to say about the Gamecube? i dont get ur point of it all.. are u saying that little kiddies are gonna beg their parents to get one for them coz of the cutesy wootsy games, and that Nintendo is gonna make a killing? true, but there average age of gamers is still a little older than these 'little kiddies'.. if Nintendo doesnt accomodate for these older gamers, and just makes all their games like N64 i dont think they're gonna be received too well. True, the DVD player on the PS2 is just a nice little add-on (most ppl that would own a PS2 would most likely have a DVD player already).

i thought GC's dvd player was an add-on? like for US$100 u could get it? correct me if im wrong here... and gamecube WILL be online. all these 'next-next generation' consoles will be online. how do u think they'll compete with the others out there if they dont support online gameplay?

*cough* how old were u when u first got on the net? i dont know about you, but kids these days are pretty smart. i know kids that are under 10yrs old and they know just as much about gaming/pc's as i do.. (if not more so ^^; ) and i know heaps of young kids that buy DVDS! who wouldnt want your fav eps of anime (or whatever else they watch) on dvd?! u underestimate kids of today...

I've had a PS2 for over six months now, and not once have I regretted paying out 300 for it (yup, that's even more than $300.) I don't think it was a rip off, cause I think it's an investment. Yeah I could have waited another six months to get one a bit cheaper or whatever, but I wouldn't be able to sit at home and play Tekken Tag for half a year. As far as I'm concerned, the PS2 is a great system and I'm glad I bought it.
So people are waiting on a few of the big games for PS2. I've never played Metal Gear Solid, prolly won't play MGS2...there will be other games worth playing on PS2 as well as that (Final Fantasy X and XI, definately, Gran Turismo 3...) otherwise there'd be no point me having a PS2! I don't think MGS2 is the be all and end all of the PS2's appeal. I don't think you can start shooting the PS2 down in the light of XBox and Gamecube that we don't even know everything about yet.
You have a point with the typical Nintendo audience being kids, but in the UK at least I know more kids who have PS's than N64's and I think a lot of them will eventually choose PS2 over Gamecube.
Dreamcast vs PS2? The Dreamcast has already failed. It's only cheap now because Sega are gonna give up on it soon enough. I didn't want it to fail, I think competition in the games industry is good, it drives companies to produce better games and hardware. The Dreamcast is a good system, but it doesn't have enough good games. It never took off at all when it got released over here, in the same way that the N64 didn't. (I'm talking about the UK, cause that's where I live. I can't comment on the US market, because...well, I'm not there!

) The PS already had pretty much a stranglehold on the games market, and I think PS2 will benefit from this. The same people who had the PS's I think will eventually upgrade to PS2. It's not the best thing to have to rely on sequels and new versions of games, but PS has so many titles that people want to keep on playing, stuff like Final Fantasy, Tekken, Gran Turismo and MGS.
About kids and technology? Look at how many Disney and kids movies/TV show DVDs there are out there. And many parents now buy PCs so that their kids can learn to use them, and learn to use the internet. The IT teacher from my old school told me she knew ten/eleven year old kids who could write html. I can't even do that yet, and I'm eighteen.
Okay so I'm a PS2 obssessive. I freely admit that. It's the only one of the newer systems out there that I have, because I can't afford to buy more than one. I am waiting to see what happens with Microsoft and the XBox. I think it's going to be successful, and if it is I hope Microsoft and Sony can force each other to make better games. That's gotta be one good thing to come out of this.

Kids do not buy DVDs!? WTF are you talking about? DVDs are starting to replace VHS, and fast (in my opinion). Imagine The Land Before Time on DVD. The whole set (if you do not know what is it, it's is a HIGHLY popular movie collection for kids, has up to 8 movies i think). Kids would be buying it and buying PS2 so they can watch it on it.
The reason for Nintendo not using the DVD player, is not becuase they targeted younger kids, but becuase they want to make a gaming ONLY system. Although they are coming out with a "GC DVD" (not being made by Nintendo).
GC vs Xbox? Well with all the people saying that Xbox sucks, i do not think it is going to beat GC.

WTF? GC is going to cost $200 US and (around) $300 CAN. Eery case comes with 90 colurs on it? What are you trying to say here? There will be certain cases with certain colours (6 i think).

from the way it was written, i'm willing to bet the guy was just rambling on and on. it's the games that make the system, so obviously the guy just hates the ps2.

ok.. i admit that kids use dvd's and internet. i just added that on. i know for a fact xbox doesnt suck.. i tried alot of the games at a E3 Convention. and the gamecube is not going for 200 bucks i can almost guarantee it. the nintendo 64 was almost that price just when it came out.. that tells you there that the gamecube will cost more than 200.. probably 300 or 350 like the playstation 2 is. i also think is if u get the playstation 2 for the dvd player your pretty stupid. a dvd player cheap like the ps2 ones cost.. hmm 100 dollars i think. plus uhm... Dreamcast for example bang you saved 100 dollars.. u may not get the same awesome games that are availble for ps2.. (stupid gaming companys)oh yea there are alot of rainbow like colors on the covers of nintendo.. when i said there are 90 collars i used something called SARCASM. but you have to admit.. you go to the 64 section and there are alot of damn colors compared to like playstation or ps2. oh yea whoever corrected me about psx2 is ps2. get a life. its called a typo.

GameCube's MSRP in the US is a FIRM $199.99. Now, stores can sell for whatever they want to, but 95% of them stick with the MSRP. Besides, no way in hell that they'd rasie the price, since a system that's $100 less than the PS2 or XBox will look MIGHTY tempting for those only wanting one system, or if they're on a strict budget.

With sega gone bye bye as a hardware developer, DC's options have somewhat dropped.. the DC wont be in direct competition with PS2, GC and X-Box very soon. actually, i dont think it even is now. true its cheaper, but how many years do you think it still has in it? if you want the latest, updated, advanced system your gonna have to fork out the cash to get urself one. PS2, along with the others, will have a pretty long lifespan (imo). Even tho DC has some great games on it and DOES have potential, so many ppl have already dropped it. pretty soon, it just aint gonna cut it.MRk MRK n FnK Mz
