I know there are lots of valid reasons for why people hate rap, but personally I love it. For me and my friends there is no music better for jus sittin around chillin than rap. The solid bassline in it is very relaxing to me, and makes me feel better when I am in a bad mood or something. Some of my favorite artists (ill use that word despite the contention it will start) include Tupac (lets face it, the man is dead and his music is STILL some of the best), DMX, Ja Rule, Ruff Rydas in general, and finally the LOX. So anyway, fellow hip-hop/rap fans, respond! Who are your favorite artists and what are some of your favorite songs? If you hate rap, please don't start a flame war, I am just trying to get a friendly discussion going.
P.S.--If this topic has already been covered just ignore it, I am new to the "wounded" CHV (although I was a pretty good poster back in tha day when CHV was whole) so I haven't read all of this forum.

I personally like Tupac and DMX. Rap is not my favorite music by far, but I have to admit that I can always go for a little Tupac. BOOMER SOONER

Try and download "Mantequilla" from "La Corte Imperia", or "El gato volador" from Cuentos de la Cripta". I love it. I feel like I'm being watched...

Tupac really is the man. He has some crap songs but he has more awesome songs than probably any other 6 rappers put together. I also really like a group that isn't really that well-known called the LOX. I mentioned them before, but I really think they are talented. There is one in the group of 3 called Jadakiss, and I think he is the most talented. His first solo album is coming out next month, and I urge fans of rap to pick it up to show support for him (not to mention the fact that it should be pretty good).
Here is an interesting and probably controversial question: What does everybody think about Eminem? I used to like his flow, but a while back I realized that he sort of had turned himself into the "boy band" of rap. I also think he gained a lot of acceptance from some people just on the fact that he is white, and that may be less threatening to some people. I also used to think that some of his flows about killing people (such as his wife) were sort of funny, but as I've gotten a bit older my opinion has changed. I don't really see girls as objects anymore, and all his talk is slightly disturbing to me now (maybe getting old has hurt my sense of humor). So anyway, at the ripe old age of 18, I don't like him much anymore. What you guys/gals think? Reasonable arguments only please.

well, i guess perferrences go in a circle.. i used to be like you blackout, but at the tender age of 25, i like eminem.. but here's the catch. I like westlife too!! haha... (and..uh..nsync?? )
well, maybe this is because of my profession..but some music have to be listen to without prejudice, which reminds me, does anyone remember the George Michael album ( i think it was his second solo) titled : "listen without prejudice" or something..
                  i thought it was good.

I can sit quite happily and listen to some of Eminem's stuff, and it makes me laugh, and I'll go around humming it all day...but I think sometimes he's just a bit too much. First time I heard Kim I was like "this is sick!" I'd heard most the rest of the album, but that just struck me as being way too twisted. I thought that first time I heard Stan too. Sometimes I just wonder what kind of guy he is to think about some of this stuff! But, I can't judge because I'm coming from a completely different background to Eminem, so I guess things are seen differently. I agree that he's kinda sold out to pop now too. Hehe...Pi, you're a brave guy to say you like Westlife! argh...they make me sing Uptown Girl in my head...all the time!!!
edit...what is happening to that poor cat in that picture?! katyjag, a young revolutionary...

                      Ah! Westlife's "Uptown Girl"?!?! AH!!!!
Seriously, I prefer the origional version by Billy Joel a LOT more than that one.
Actually, I really like a lot of Billy Joel's stuff, so maybe its just me.
