      PS3 = XBOX2 (HomeStation)
      Nothing new really. When Sony first released the PSX, they talked a bit about the PS2. When the PS2 came out, they mentioned the PS3.

        Dont expect it for at least four years.
        The technology of Ps3 was originaly a project titled GSCube, the rendering of the GSCube is like 20 or so Ps2's together. To tell you how impressive the graphics were, in a issue of NextGen magazine there was a scence right out of a CG secuence of FF9, and it looked better in real time. Ill scan the pic if anyone wants to see it.

          Yeah I saw that article in Next-Gen. I don't think thats the PS3 however. I don't think we'll get cg quality game graphics for at least 6-10 years.-Spok-

            Please scan the pic. Square reportedly used many, many GSCubes linked together to render parts of the Final Fantasy Movie.

              *Poll on CoreMagazine.com*
              Should Sony release PS3 early to fend off Xbox?
              Yes?
              No?
              Not needed?
              The shocking results of 7656 people:
              YES - 27%
              NO - 39%
              NOT NEEDED - 34%
              Like that would ever happen... Sony is gonna bump up a console that's not gonna see the light of day for at least 4 years to "fend off X-Box" ... Right.MRk MRK n FnK Mz

                Yeah, I know the idea of the PS3 has been floating around for a while now, I'm just wondering about the fact that it's being suggested for an early release due to the Xbox being a threat to Sony's position in the market. I didn't think they were this worried about how the PS2 was going to do against the other next-gen consoles.

                  Sony, SUPPOSEDLY, does not compete against other companies, which would explain their relunctance to drop the price in the US. Sony believes they can only compete with themselves, and strive to top themselves time and time again. They dont see XBox as a threat, nor do they see GameCube as direct competition. Only when the GameCube and XBox get the kinds of games Sony has been getting (moody, atmospheric, more artistic, etc.) will they be any real threat to Sony. And those games didn't come to PS2 for about a year after launch.-Spok-

                    M$ says that too when companies sue it for being a monopoly. :-p

                      Talk about PS2 was floating around when PSX was released. They always have some kind of ideas going around, but nothing was planned yet. PS3 is a long way off. I wouldn't bother with it until PS2 has at least PEAKED. Which I'm giving another few years.MRk MRK n FnK Mz
