Game: Medal of Honor: Underground
Disks: 1
Before I get into some cool Ps2 reviews, I would like to do a couple of this already magnificent system. No, its not the Sega Master System its the Playstation. So while I play some Ps2 games, I can chat about this game and another (I will be doing a review on Fear Effect 2 soon Hopefully) Once upon a time there was this game for the N64 called Golden Eye. (Based on the movieuhGolden Eye Original name eh?) Golden Eye kicked ass, and is considered one of the best console first person shooter of all time. People wanted a FPS on their Playstations as well NEWS FLASH! Playstation was not designed to render large amounts of 3D graphics. (Something the N64 is great at) But even with the cards against them, Dreamworks interactive were able to pull it off (sorta) with their WW2 based FPS titled: Medal of Honor. Alright, here I have in my hands is the sequel is it better than the first? Yes, and no
GAMEPLAY:
Traditional stuff. MOF:Underground, does not add tons of new stuff to the old genre of FPS. You can staff and shoot, get better guns etc.etc BUT, thats not to say it isnt fun! Shooting Nazis is somewhat, interesting. The animations of being hit is great And there are a large amount of areas where you can shoot those Nazi scumbags! Shoot them in the groin and they will drop, they will temporarily stop aiming and tend to their arm if you hit them there. Yet sadly this brings a complaint, unless you hit them in the head youll be wasting tons of bullets to drop them for good. There was one part in which I hit the guy in the stomach, and then had to fire at least seven more shots at him to finally die How can any one still be alive after that many shots? Undercover missions are okay, nothing exciting. The AI, like the first game is great, but they seem to be able to throw a grenade back at you as if they were all Pro-Football players. The mission variety, like the first game is great, but in some levels its lacking. During the game you are treated with old war newsreels, talking about the war effort and the underground resistance in France. (Which you are part of in the game.) This also has to be the most EDUCATIONAL FPS out there Im SERIOUS. Taking out tanks is always fun. But the most exciting level is the one in which you are being transported via sidecar bike to various locations to do mission objectives. Very cool.
GRAPHICS:
Ohhh boy. Grainy as hell. Character models have barely enough polygons to identify them as a good guy or a bad guy. Locations are filled with ugly pop-up and wired warping around walls. Bullet holes look wired, and I not going to start to talk about how some of the textures are. Day missions dont cut it.
SOUND:
Its good Its GREAT. This game has some of the best-orchestrated music in a game ever. The ambient noises in the background are amazing, as it really makes you feel you are actually there. (In fact it makes you forget about the bad graphics and that you can see only a couple feet from where you stand.) Gun shot noises to Nazis yelling stuff in German at you makes you get really pumped to kick some butt, believe me. Try grabbing the commercial music CD (I think there is one) for this game. Or just play it and hear for yourself.

My favorite part of my review is here! Alrighty, lets get too it! First the two-player mode has not changed since the last game. (In other words, its death match Nothing more.) The graphics are really sad to look at, and even with the addition of friendly guys backing you up, MOH: Underground seems more like a mission pack, not an actual sequel. Like the first game, I can easily put MOH: Underground down, and play something else. The game is mission based, and considering the history the game takes place in I am freaked they really havent given the game more of a story type feeling, unlike a bunch of missions all put together. Until a MOH game on the Ps2 is released, DreamWorks vision of a WW2 FPS can finally be achieved. Unless you loved the first game, or your sick of the other sad FPS on Playstation (the repulsive Alien: Resurrection game) MOH: Underground will satisfy you a little. Not much thou.
FINAL VERDICT:
An original idea, with unoriginal game play and poor graphics. The game has excellent sound, but if you have a N64, go and get Perfect Dark, If you dont, get this or wait for a Ps2. Its more of a mission-pack than a sequel. It has great controls thou (forgot to add in Game play Opps)
