Hm...I haven't picked up the book in a while, but here's what I remember off the top of my head.
Right in Genesis, there's a woman (who is already married) who wants Joseph to knock her up. When he refuses, she screams and tells everyone that he raped her.
Later in Genesis, two sisters get their father drunk with the sole intent of screwing him, twice. Incest, and rape of a paternal figure for everyone!
Still in Genesis, we come upon a city of "wicked" homosexuals. When the whole town is obsessed with raping the two men, they offer their daughters to be raped by the whole city. Genesis continues with stories of dismemberment, torture, and murder.
Solomon writes about grabbing women's breasts, stictly for pleasure. Then Samuel goes on to depict someone watching a woman bathe, knowing she was soemone else's wife, and then raping her, making her pregnant.
Ezekiel goes on to describe orgies, one of which men with "horse-sized" members squirt their "lust" all over two nymph prostitutes.
I think most people forget that when David defeats Goliath, he then proceeds to take Goliath's sword and then behead the defeated warrior, all for the enjoyment of others (think Gladiator). David is later honored for slaughtering "tens of thousands" of innocent people after that. To top that off, David goes out and rapes a man's wife, and then has the husband killed
There's a part in Judges where a group of men confront an old man, looking to have sex with another man who is staying at his house. The old guy refuses, but hands over his daughter (the girlfriend of the guy they wanted), and tells them they can rape her as much as they want. So they do, all...night...long... Once she comes back, the boyfriend takes her home. He then goes and cuts her up, limb by limb, into 12 pieces, and then tosses her body across the desert for being dirty.
The list goes on, and on, and on, and on.... Incest, genocide, murder, cannibalism, abortion, torture, dismemberment, massive drug use, suicide, bestiality, human sacrafice, adultery, castration, gang-rape, pedophilia, necrophilia, and so on.
I haven't seen Bible Black (or any hentai for that matter), but I'd like to see it top that list of violence and perversion above.
I think the Bible has more explicit and perverse writings than every book that any school has ever banned, combined. But...I'll just leave it at that...

I was trying to rewrite it.
This is the main thrust of it anyway. How can people criticise something like Lilo and Stitch for having swimsuits in when there's violence and so on in the Bible? (Coming from a Christian pov though, I'm not implying that the Bible is pointless.)

The Bible does have a point to much of the violence and sex in it, but so do many banned films and books. Yet, people are encouraged to follow the words of one, but completely ignore (or in somce cases, burn out of existance) another one. Few works of art that are worth viewing/reading contain nothing but wanton violence or sex, and those that do are forgotten as time goes on.
Let me put it this way. Let's say someone has created a film that contains the same explicit details as the Bible, as well as the same morals and teachings, but is NOT based on the Bible. You'd get chaos, with the film instantly being banned by most theaters and groups (no doubt the Christians would be first). Double standards are everywhere, and frankly, I see no point why one book should be banned and not another (although my stance is that NOTHING should be "banned", but that's another story). While I'm not saying that something like Bible Black belongs in a family section (it doesn't, and any employee who puts it on that shelf after seeing that cover is an idiot), I also believe that people need to look at things from a different perspective than they do. Most parents don't have a problem if they were reading the Bible to their kids, but maybe they should.
John Ashcroft (yeah, him again) is one of those Bible beaters that just piss me off. He's someone who tries to follow that book wherever he can, and it shows in his actions. He's the type of person who, Bible in hand, would like to see books burned, films destroyed, and works of art tarnished (he's been somewhat successful with that last one, making the govt clothe certain statues [with tax money, of course] that are "indecent and immoral" [read: nude]). With the Bible vs. Bible Black thing here, he's the type of person who, upon viewing of the film, would do whatever he could to make hentai (or even anime, depending on how much it pisses him off) illegal. He's that crazy and stupid. Ever see one of those "kids who don't get enough of the arts" commercials (probably only the US guys have)? He's one of those kids.
As far as CAP goes, I love reading their reviews on certain films, even for just a (humorous to someone like me) "different" point of view on certain things. CAP is one of those oddities that I'd probably miss if they were gone, but probably don't believe in almost anything they say.
Hm, on second thought, maybe I should write a letter to Fhurer Ashcroft and inform him of a certain (evil) corporation who sells porn in the family section. Then I'll write another letter, about what's probably the most vulgar book ever written, that's in every book store/library/hotel/church in America.

                  Nov 09, 2002#18

Note: One, off topic, thing to add about Ashcroft.
His actions are quite close to the Taliban (you know, that group I complained about months before 9/11 for destroying the Buddhist statues) in those terms. He lost his re-election bit to the US Senate to a DEAD MAN (read: the voters would rather have a dead guy represent them than him). His appointment as Attorney General (by a President the people didn't elect) was a big debate, and he was only accepted by one vote. He supports racist organizations and hate groups, and he swore (when he took office) that he wouldn't use (read: abuse) his power to force his puritanical right-wing agenda on the country.
Thank you so much Osama Bin Fucking Laden for giving him the chance to do exactly that. It gave him a chance to use his draconian far-right agenda by masking everything under words like "national security", "homeland defense", and his "war on terrorism." The US constitution means nothing to him as he doesn't follow it. He might as well have wiped his ass with the original document. Everything from search warrants to client-attorney confidentiality are gone under his rule.
Foreign and AMERICAN CITIZENS have, and are being held, not only without reason, but without the rights they are supposed to have as detainees (such as the ability to talk to a lawyer or have an outside group assess their treatment if its needed). Aaaaaaand, he's done everything he can to make sure nobody knows what he's doing, basically by spitting on the Freedom Of Information Act which was designed to prevent such things from occuring. Then he goes and takes over states' rights, by taking away laws dealing with assisted suicide and medical-marijuana, that the voters themselves have enacted, illegally.
Let's not forget his daily "voluntary" (read: mandatory) prayer vigils for his staff, as well as "asking" (read: forcing) his staff to sing the little patriotic song he wrote (and you can tell he wrote it by how bad it is), "Let The Eagles Soar."
Yeah, I'm so proud to be a god damned American with people like him making this country's decisions...

Bleh. Are you sure you want to stay in this country that long Katy?
