There's a very specific reason why I hate these games, and thats because they suck up so much of my damn time. Granted, I've got alot of it, but I don't like spending so much on a game. Klonoa 2, is, as is it's predecessor, an insanely infectious game. Everything is done right here. The characters are finely detailed, and well-played by the gibberish-speaking VA's. The world is always bright and colorful, even in some of the gloomier stages, the shine is still there. Another nice aspect of the game is that the cuteness never takes over. Everything is secondary to gameplay. The music ranges from Big Band, to cute Klonoa fanfare to hard rock(WAHOO STOMP! ) and never gets old or played out. Adding another level of fun to the mix, Namco included a board that resembles the hoverboards from "Back to the Future"(in function only). The levels in which the board are used are downhill sprints through areas not traversible by normal means. Along with these additions is a showman by the name of Mommett. Fans of the first may remember filling up the small 6 piece puzzles with pieces collected around the levels to free the Phantomileans, this time you're collecting pieces of Memory Doll's that ran away from Mommett in order to gain more memories. Mommett's house also contains all the extras for the games including a portrait mode, music mode, boss battle mode, and 2 secret(and insanely hard) levels. This is one title not to be missed; it's certainly on par with the first, if not better than, and this time the endings not insanely sad. =P Buy it or rent it, just make sure you give it a chance before brushing it aside for less cute games.. Hopefully this one will do much better than the first did.
