Steve's Quick and Dirty Kingdom Hearts review:
Pros:
Characters are great, look great, sound great
Worlds are fantastically modeled
Squaresoft characters are a nice touch, seeing them so well modeled is very nice
The control is top notch, and the battles are very fun and frantic
Quite a few small sidequests, etc, to keep replay value up
Squall Leonheart is worried about the Dalmation puppies
Cons:
Going from world to world in the horrible looking, shooter-
wannabe Gummi ship levels
Having to do it EVERYTIME you want to go to another world, even if you've been there before
No Japanese language track(WTB)
Squaresoft characters are limited to FF7, 8 and 10, and even then they pretty much taper off after Traverse Town(the starting point after Destiny Island)
9 Disney worlds, 0 Squaresoft worlds

When buying or renting Kingdom Hearts, don't make the mistake of thinking that it's an amalgamation of the Squaresoft and Disney universes; if anything, Kingdom Hearts is a Disney game with Final Fantasy characters tacked on for appeal to a wider fanbase. Don't get me wrong, Kingdom Hearts is great, but the amount of Disney may very overload some people. As I mentioned above, after Traverse Town, it's pretty much all Disney with a few Final Fantasy cameo's here and there. Gameplay is standard action RPG fare, and in terms of music, the only thing that really stands out in my mind is the opening theme. Kingdom Hearts is a great game, but if Squaresoft had pushed more than just a few cameos into the game(say...an extra, FF related world?) it could have been an incredible combination.
