FFIX is okay but not as good as FFVIII

It wasn't bad. I mean, it wasn't what many people expected it to be, the savior of the series, going back to the roots and everything, but in its own right, it was good. Just like people have been saying all along that FF8 was a good game, just not a good FF, I feel the same way about FF9. It was a good game, but to me, personally, not trying to offend anyone, FF9 wasn't that a FF game. It's still good, though I consider 8 better.

Personally, I think that FF9 was the worst in the series (other than FF Mystic Quest). It was trying too hard to be "a true Final Fantasy" and in the end just ended up dilluting itself into utter forgetful nothingness. Of course it is a Square game, so compared to other RPGs it's damn good, but compared to other FFs, well it's crap(IMHO).

I'd like to say FFIX is good, but there is terrible balence in the charecters abilities unlike VII and VIII. Many of the charecters are bland and have no charisma like those found in VIII. The game is just so frustrating because there are many things I like about the game, but there are so many elements I dislike.
The story is too light-hearted for my own taste.(Or at least RPG taste.) The music doesn't feel like it had much motivation either. I don't hate the game because, generally its a good game, but everyone has high-standards for FF games. At least the graphics are nice.
I have to finish it first to give a complete opinion though.
