    This movie rocks!
No stupid rape scenes, just good old fashioned blood and death and awesome artwork! Oh, and the story is pretty good too...
10 times better than the original, and I really liked the original...

Yep, I liked it far more than the original.
In short, I had heard a bit about Vampire Hunter D, and it was almost hyped up to the extent that I expected some mind-blowing movie, something at least along the lines of Akira (whether for story, animation, etc.). Instead, I get this campy little movie that, while it has some good parts (mainly the characters of D,his left hand, and Count Lee), it had far more cheese than I expected.
On the other hand, Bloodlust is basically along the lines of what I expected from D in the first place. Good animation, decent story, better music, etc.
I wish the DVD didn't have that annoying glitch that pops up every now and then though.

I passed up the chance to buy the movie yesterday when I saw it in a store...
Can anyone tell me what it is about before I buy it?
Is it something like BLOOD/Akira?ATI - Driving the chemical reaction revolution

The short version is that D is a half human/half Vampire (a Dunpeal) who lives as a bounty hunter, out to get his own kind (Vampires). As far as the movie goes, he's hired to bring back a girl who was kidnapped by a Vampire. Yadda yadda yadda, cool fight scenes, yadda yadda yadda, rip off some earlier Vampire movies, yadda yadda yadda, the end.
I'd recomment it, even though I'm not exactly big on the whole Vampire genre (anime or otherwise).

There's a love story and sub love story, and other actual plot stuff too...
But I mostly like it for the cool artwork. Definitely twisted, in a good way.

Half the plot seems thrown in, almost as if they were last minute changes to the script.
Take the scene with the sheriff and the old man. While its a fairly good scene on its own, the pacing on has that hacked up feeling to it. It was almost as if they were just looking to throw in another scene showing the xenophobia showed towards the Vampires and Dunpeals.
Either that, or they just felt like giving Di Maggio another part.
EDIT: I was also over-simplifying it, since I didn't feel like writing an elaborate summary of it, just to convince John to watch it.

Hmm.... I feel like I should stay away from this DVD.... I think I will just buy Street Fighter II V instead .ATI - Driving the chemical reaction revolution
