Well.. I should have stressed the "If they are loving parents" thing more... it really does depend, in some circumstances it would be much better to wait as you suggested Doraemi.
Maybe I should have touched on the loving parents thing too, since that is kind of vague. What I mean is, if their love for you has overcome other boundaries set by religion or belief. For instance, birth control, optional worship, difference in opinion, etc. If despite conflicts, they have supported you in the past... I think it best to be open with them when you are younger.
But yes, if they have not shown this kind of understanding through love for their children, then... perhaps it is better to wait until you have established a life seperate from them.

I was going to touch on this before, but then changed my mind, and now have changed it back. IMHO...
I do believe that you can be born with a desire for same-sex partnership. I also believe it can develop over time.
In any case the choice is still there to accept or deny one's own homosexuality. Calling it orientation is not a definitive, orientation can change... however the use of the word does speak that your acceptance was not yours to make, and this is what I disagree with.
Call your and anyone's inate desires an orientation, but do not say it was without choice, or else you've thrown free will out the window. And what was it.. "To deny free will is to deny that we are human"?
This is why I use preference, instead of "sexual orientation", because I want it to always be apparent that it's my own choice, my own way.

Um...nobodys denying free will as a whole in its unadulterated, ambiguous definition. But it plays absolutely no part in, say, your race, which is entirely out of your control. Similarly, those who view sexuality as ingrained "orientation" don't bring free will into the mix, because in their mental model it is not a matter of choice at all, no more than any biological factor.---

There have been MANY MANY books written on the subject of same sex attraction being biologically affected. (gf's current psychology thesis)
I don't think people have a choice in sexuality, they are either born gay or not. Just like the persons next to you, born left handed or right, which is a factor passed on from parents. Now, the tricky part in all this is that a left handed person CAN learn to write with their right hand BUT the better option will and would always be writing with their left hand. Now back to homosexuality - I believe media and stereotypes have played along in the makeup of confusing our own sexual orientations/preference. After people watch on TV 'beautiful' women they begin to accept that what they see is 'beautiful'. Eras have gone by, when different style of women used to be beautiful and THAT can be controlled by us.
Now we will delve into my own theory here... We are biologically affected by the potential of doing exactly what we need to do, reproduce. In the very early eras, the style of women men preferred were always plump and 'rosy' (mind you, they were NOT obese) but this style of women were though of as being HEALTHY Overpopulation, there is just far too many of us on this world, and we simply will not survive at such a high growth rate on this planet. Which brings me back to the major point; we are designed to ensure the survival of the human race. When our 'mission' in life is no longer to reproduce, there is NO NEED to prefer women (coming from a male perspective). Or perhaps our sexual orientations are biologically changing so that we DO NOT reproduce any further to keep the population at a controllable situation.
Perhaps Bumz is just ahead of all of us in evolution. dundun duunn X-men.
