My friend has had this game ripped for a long time (he was playing the first demo the day of release) He has been showing me how cool the game is (not letting me play *@&$^@!) and now FINALLY, I have rented the and playing it for the first time. Im stuck on the first boss "phatom" (aka: giant lava spider) I'm leteraly getting my ass wopped. Help would be great, please respond.

Devil May Cry is ONE of the best games on Ps2 so far.

Make sure you have a full devil meter, full life and a vital star when you go into the fight. After the little cinema, use the devil trigger and go to town on his head with Alastor, once it wears off, run like hell and fire at him from a distance with your pistols charging up your devil trigger meter. Lather, rinse and repeat as necessary. A quicker, more dangerous way is to jump on his back and shoot him from there. His attacks are easily avoidable, especially using the pistols. TO dodge the fireball, just sidestep or hide behind a pillar. To dodge the fire pillars, just roll to the side or jump out of the way. TO dodge him when he jumps, just run under him. It can't hurt to have a few devil stars either. Also, make sure your devil meter is charged when the fight ends, you're gonna need the extra speed to run like hell. If you're having lots and lots of trouble here, I'd recommend going through on easy as it only gets tougher(much tougher, right after this boss fight, there are 3 more. Like, less than two minutes between each one if you know what you need to do. =P). Side note: The pistols are the most useful guns in the whole game, I used them everywhere, on everyboss. Shotgun is useful on Sins and marionettes, grenade launcher is useful on Blades(sorta).
