I'm prolly gonna get flamed for this, but I'd like to see a modern day FF, y'know? Like Earthbound(without the hippies, drunken men and street signs =P), FF8 almost got there, but they stopped short.

Well, the whole idea of Final Fantasy is that it's in a fantasy world. A world unlike our own but then again with a few things we can recognize. FFVIII was definitely 'modern' but just not the way we know it.

Earthbound was definetly a game full of fantasy(sci-fi could be argued), and it was still set in a modern world. I dunno, I just think it would be kind of cool.

I liked the scifi feel in FFVII.
But on-topic, is that shot real, or photoshopped by an adoring fan? I haven't seen it on Gamespot or IGN.

It looks like a sequal to FF8.
Square needs to turn the FF series into another series. This is insane, while im all for another FF game....

That's a fake. The background is directly from Final Fantasy VIII, the flower thing pasted on the top layer looks unprofessional, and the CG girl looks sub-par for Square.
