Okay so... big let down? I've only seen the holy trinity; microsoft/nintendo/sony. Impressions...

First, nintendo, since I saw it first. I'm interested in your DS, and wish to subscribe to your future newsletter... strangely, with a keen interest in
the kitchen and garden section I just liked the hype about the DS becoming all-purpose. Persocom phase 1. The wiimote added sensitivity thingy looks
useful, but then that was my initial observation of sony's sixaxis... so, whatever. Besides that, and animal crossing... it all seemed so fake and
    hyperbole.

Next is sony. I thought they had the best presentation, but I'm a sony +@#%% so.. whatever. Resistance 2 and little big planet (still) look fun
Fall's 40GB+40 (oops I mean 80GB) ps3 does NOT look fun D: I caught a minor glimpse of the title for Mirror's Edge and was immediately interested in
it... now that I've seen trailers and in-game footage, it looks awesome. When HOME for PN comes out in 2030 on the PS6, it'll be neat. The PSP stuff
was kind of a blur.. cause I just don't care about the PSP.

Microsoft. I watched this one online... and wound up fast forwarding quite a bit. I don't care about fallout and its bloody mess, thats not my bag. I
don't need Gears of War, and the presentation of Fable 2 was $%$@@++ DUMB. Lips might be fun at parties... if I was still 14. They can have some FF13
love, thats okay. Now I get that you guys love your netflix down there.. but up here, that really isn't a selling point.

I was amused by Wii Music. Its major talking points are that it requires zero skill or coordination and it provides no goals so as to make failure an
impossibility. If this piece of *%!% actually finds traction in the market, then all the cries of Nintendo killing gaming lose their tinge of hyperbole.

Sony was Sony. Lots of big, empty promises that may be fulfilled at some uncertain future date, a total lack of new titles, capped with downgraded SKUs for
everyone. Awesome. I'm not even disappointed with them anymore, this is just par for the course now.

I can't really speak for the Microsoft conference except to say that the FFXIII announcement was a big blow to the PS3 that went totally unanswered. It
would have been even bigger if Square-Enix weren't being utter cockups this generation and actually showed something (!*!@@$! anything) new, but even so,
the last big 3rd party exclusive for the PS3 is now behind us.

so, the last big 3rd party exclusive for the PS3 is now behind us.
Watching the videos available online, it appears that Square has indeed shown us something new. I did not recognize some of the shots from the
new trailer they showed at the Microsoft conference. I mean, a few new seconds of CGI video? To add to the last few seconds of new CGI video? Amazing!

Oh, wait. It's not 2001 and that's not enough to wow us any longer?

Sarcasm aside, if it weren't for the fact that Square has a history of at least releasing most of the projects they announce, I'm surprised
something like Final Fantasy XIII isn't considered vaporware. Hell, I enjoy the fact that so many people lise FF13Versus as one of their "ZOMG I MUST
HAVE!" titles when, to the best of my knowledge, we haven't even seen a single screenshot or gameplay demo of it.

That, my friends, is brand power.

We have seen real-time footage of FF13, or atleast I have, I think... back like, what, two years ago when Gest or Drak or.. one of you guys.. posted a trailer
link. It showed some gunslinging real-time battling on a train... granted, to my recollection it looked so randomly choreographed it *could* have been a
pre-scripted pretending to be real-time. Ya I think a year ago I would have been pissed that FF13 wasn't going to be exclusive, because I wanted to believe
the PS3 was the clear winner... but now, I just don't care, I think if SE needs to expand the market for financial reasons, then do it. God of War 3 is
still exclusive, and I completely suspect another *full length*ratchet and clank game will be coming out on the hush hush.

I'm a little PO'd right now. I went and got a PS3, finally... and an HDMI cable, but I'm getting no signal. Component works, so I used the old PS2
cord just to make sure my unit wasn't +*@%+!. After fixing all the settings, my controller is happily charging (I should be doing this on the PC though
huh, and turn the PS3 off... whatever). I got monster cables HDMI for PS3... so I guess maybe they are bogus, because my TV *IS* HDCP compliant. Fuckity *!!!.
The sony HDMI cables were like 90 bucks and came with two (unnessesary?) USB cables... I guess they are for speakers? wtf.

Wow I made chop suey of this post and turned it in to tech support huh.

            Get your HDMI cables from Ebay. Get the cheapest ones you can find. They're not like component cables, where you have to worry about signal degradation;
they're digital. They either work or they don't. The high priced Sony/Monster/etc cables are basically there to scam the people who don't know
any better. It's the same with optical audio cables.

Okay so really, I had a madcatz cable apparently. I went to futureshop and got a nice short monster cable for $50 bucks (10 cheaper than the madcatz, wtf), and
these work beautifully. MGS4 is pretty... I can't wait to play a more organic and colorful game.

I think my HDMI cable was $3, with another $5 for shipping.

ebay shmebay, I like being able to return things without a $10 s/h fee or whatever.
