I think i have this wrong, but anyways, dont Xbox disks have the same format as DVDs? Therefore if one was to have a DVD burner, could Xbox games be copied?

No... now, I probably DONT have this right... but, something about xbox live... where it can tell you are using a DVD-R or whatever.. and they'll simply cancel your account. They have no tolerance for piracy. Same with modding your box or something.. they'll cancel your account. Of course, if you dont have xbox live, well, who's to know? I dunno.. didnt someone post some article link concerning this? Bleh

The discs themselves are normal DVD-9's, I think. It's the way they're burned that's meant to prevent piracy (again, I think. Wait for Jim's final word on the matter). Similar restrictions are placed on PS2 CD's and DVD's. All are bypassed by mod-chips, which are indeed immediate cause for banishment from XBox Live.
That aside, are there commercial DVD-burners that can write to DVD-9's, yet? I'm not sure...---

DVD-5's. As far as I know, the only DVD-9 game that has been released (anywhere) is Xenosaga. That could obviously change in the future, but for now, I believe there's just one.
So yeah, you technically can, assuming you can go through a list of mods (modding the xbox, handling the fact that the discs spin backwards, etc).
As far as I know, the only method for getting DVD-9's is to use a glass-master at a replication house. There may be DVD-9 "burners" coming sometime down the road, but it'll take a while before they become cheap enough for consumers.

I'm fairly certain all XBox games have been released on DVD-9's, regardless of whether they actually need the extra space or not. The discs have the signature gold back of dual-layered DVDs, after all.---

Hm...I'll look into that later. I would think that even Microsoft would realize how inefficient it would be to release every game on a dual-layered DVD, when none (or almost none) would even require that extra space.
Granted, we're not talking about a MAJOR difference per disc (at least not at the rates that MS would be paying, considering the millions of discs being pressed), but I'm sure it would add up to quite a bit of wasted funds.
Then again, if it were true, it could be another "feature" of the copy protection...

Wow, i was looking at the procedure for duplicating Xbox disks, it is REALLY not worth the 50 dollars for a game. You need like 15 programs, half of which are impossible to find because of copyright laws and such, even on mIRC they are hard to find.
Plus mod chips need to be baught, then risk loosing xbox live and such, i just dont think its worth it. I was looking more along the lines of like copying an audio CD, insert, hit copy. even making an ISO file would be fine, but this is not worth the effort.Rule number one of the Zeller Home Theater entertainment system:
