Oooo you don't like One Winged Angel.......hmmm odd but hey, each his or her own opinion ofcourse.
Let me ask you a question: are you in to classical/choir music?
If so, please explain why you don't like One Winged Angel.
I've recommended this song to several classic music freaks and all of them were very much intrigued by the song to say the least.
I'm very curious to your opinion and the reasons that motivate you opnion.

It's a marching song. It's a film score. It's to accompany something. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE score music, and there are so many pieces from games that I've admired and adored, and listen to on a very frequent basis.
When I listen to classical music, I look for pieces that tell emotions in the strengths and subtle movements within their melodies. When I listen to game music in most cases, the story is yet still there, because I played that story.
I listen to One Winged Angel and I become slightly irritated. And the reason? Because I dont have, and/or have not experienced, what it is supposed to be accompanying. And because it basically holds the same tone throughout the entire piece, it's frustrating to listen to.
I have two options to fully feel this song, one is to play the game... where I will play the story... or listen to the entire CD to hear each of the songs, and how they play with one another. Neither of those options are available to me right now though, so all I can do is listen to this one piece, and judge from that... and, from listening, (three times in a row now), I do not favor it very much.
In classical music, my two preferences are soft and saddening, or building and ravenous... when the two are mixed, wether an overture, movements, or whatever, it is usually among my favorite. I've mentioned some pieces before on these boards... and how I like complicated, full orchestrated pieces... so, uhm.. geeze, I'm rambling. Theres yer answer, in a not-very-well-structured kinda way.

Very interesting.
But let me get this right:
from your POV One Winged Angel isn't classical music but score or marching music. Then the question rises wether score music can't be classical music as well.....
'Cause there are many forms of classical music.
Let's look at Liberi Fatali.... Do you also see this as just score music? From my POV it's absolutely classical music which tells it's own tale without the visuals just as well as it does with. I was very moved by the song the first time I heard it, and that was long before I even touched FFVIII.

You misunderstood. I never said One Winged Angel wasn't classical, because it most obviously is.
Marching music (there's another word for it, but I just can't remember it right now), score music... I mentioned those in acceptance that they are part of the classical music genre in this case.
One Winged Angel is a classical piece, but it is also a score; it is meant to be the background to something else.
Liberi Fatali is a brilliant bit of music.
