I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet. Hrmm.
Did you guys even know that Bali was bombed by a terrorist group believed to be linked with Al Qaeda? Anyways, a whole bunch of Aussies were killed in it, so it's all over the news here. I'm talking 24/7 coverage. I think about 200 people are still missing, waiting to be ID'ed.
Sure, the situation in Bali was terrible. Hundreds of people have died in the bombing, but comparing it to the World Trade Centre attacks makes me feel a little uneasy. Thousands of people died in the Twin Towers in a way that was straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster, yet when some local cell blows up a club its called the "September 11 for Australia." Hrmm..
'Yay' for John Howard. He finally has a reason to back the US in the "war on terror". If (when) war breaks out, Aussie troops are pretty much guaranteed now.
    Side-note:
September 11, 2001 - "NYC Attacks Shakes the World"
    October 12, 2002 - "Bali Bombed"
November 13, 2003 - ?????? is there some kind of pattern here?

I actively try to keep my nose out of the news. If I have the TV on, it's either for videogames, background noise when I do my homework, or for one of the few sitcoms I do actively watch. On that same token, the only papers I grab on my way to school are the free ones, and the most interesting thing in them is the opinion section. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go weep, as my new phone(which was supposed to be here today) won't be here until next week. ;_;http://webpages.charter.net/gestahr/Movie2.swf

It's been all over the news here too. About 30 British people were killed in the blast.

Gest always seems to miss out on the big news stories.
          "What port lock-out?"
Anyway, it was a tragic even, as is any terrorist attack. While I certainly wouldn't put it on a scale as the WTC attack (which was an attack on the economy, the ~3,000 killed were just a side part), it certainly is a bigger event than the US media is making of it. The damn sniper story is covering every news outlet here, while the updates on the Bali bombing are lucky to get a few seconds scrolling at the bottom of the screen.
