I had a bit of an annoying incident with my pc this afternoon and I'm wondering if anyone can explain it for me. I'd just got on to the internet and logged on to MSN Messenger to check my email. Then, I got this message box saying that I had successfully configured the hard drive for re-formatting and that I would have to re-install my operating system on restarting my computer. I panicked (as I usually do) and eventually restarted the pc. Nothing happened wrong at all. So far I haven't (*fingers crossed*) had anything wrong with the pc. Anyone think they can explain?

Don't know, could be a variety of things.
Try the standard things like running scandisk, a virus scanner, etc. If everything still works fine after using it (especially after repeating the steps you took above), then I don't think you'll have to worry about it.

Yeah, scanned everything and it said apparently it was all ok. What got me though was that the message box that showed the message had Microsoft Internet Explorer written on its title box...reformatting wouldn't have anything to do with IE, I'd have guessed.

You should seriously disable rich text and HTML from being viewable... not sure if you can do this with hotmail.. but.. well, anyway. The fact that someone can cause a pop-up for you through an email is a bad thing.

hotmail doesnt usually allow this... because no files are allowed to open automatically. maybe you have spyware on your comp. run one of those spyware thingies to get rid of them? visit red blog!
