WARNING WARNING!!....Frank Discussion below:
MY HEART WAS THRILLED LAST NIGHT WHEN OVER A DOZEN PEOPLE STOOD TO DECLARE THEIR DESIRE TO MAKE JESUS LORD OF THEIR LIFE! It never ceases to amaze me at the response of hungry hearts to the truth! Last night I preached on movies and the second coming of Christ and God did a great work in many hearts! Pastor Vince Cantu has been a joy to work with this week, I thank God for his dedication to touch lives in Defiance, Ohio!
My message last night included some discussion on a rash of recent movies that mock and ridicule the Second Coming of Christ. Obviously, one of the things the Bible says would happen in “the last days” would be an outbreak of “scoffers” and “mockers” of this wonderful truth. A perfect example of this comes in a movie called, “This Is The End”…
***WARNING*** Please do NOT read any further if you are offended by a frank discussion about movies! (I warned you)
The film, which is a comedy, is filled with typical “comedy” themes today, and is about a bunch of drugged or drunk superstars, played by themselves, use the end of the world as a pretext for projectile vomiting, bodily fluids and every kind of grossness. Whatever the justification, lovers of lewdness get their money’s worth. One website has calculated that, over the course of 107 minutes, the F-word is used about 300 times. I guess it’s easier to do that than come up with genuine comedy.
And what is the actual level of the humor? Well, comedy is notoriously subjective, so here are a few examples to determine whether or not you might laugh in the movie…
At one point, a non-celebrity wants to be get into the house. Around the time the stars abandon him to his fate, the intruder is decapitated, and his head rolls around in puddles of gore. Our heroes’ reaction is to play football with it.
In another “moral and artistic highpoint”, these surviving friends have a lengthy conversation about who would most like to rape Emma Watson. She responds by attempting to murder them with an axe. Possibly someone, somewhere, will find this funny…
Dedicated fans of Seth Rogen may enjoy the opportunity to see him urinate into his own mouth. Danny McBride and James Franco have a lengthy and heated discussion about masturbation and end up threatening to ejaculate over each other. And Danny McBride repeatedly molests one of Hollywood’s hunkiest male stars ... who just so happens to love it!
Yes, the humor is really that “classy”! And yet the movie has made $100 million in the first month! Wow!!
But what I found interesting is that this movie shows that even though the rapture has taken place, life on earth remains little more than a big drug/drinking/sex party! The world seems to be enjoying the idea of being left behind and fighting on their own against the evil of the day; what blindness and stupidity. But even scarier than this movie is the fact that untold amounts of Christians would watch it and support it with their money!
The Word of God reminds us that wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, rivalry, and jealousy cannot be part of our lives. Instead, we are to live like the Lord Jesus Christ did, and forget about satisfying the desires of our sinful nature. (see Romans 13:11-14)
Another recent movie, mocking the coming of the Lord is called, “Rapture Palooza”. The trailer alone should shock you at the level of blasphemy and mockery Hollywood has lowered itself to. You can watch the trailer at this link, however, be warned, this is a very disgusting movie trailer…watch it with that in mind…
Let me remind you that comedy/humor is one of the best ways to lower people’s resistance. If you can get people to laugh, then it becomes harder for them to see the bad in what you are presenting. Comedy lowers the inhibitions of people and makes them much more “open” to your message. By making light of the coming of the Lord by having repeated “humor”, people are disarmed to its obvious blasphemous presentation.
However, I’m SURE these “gutsy movie stars” and producers would never have the guts to try and mock Allah and his Muslim devotees in the same way…they fear their own decapitation. These mockers of God are hypocrites to the core. They have un-wittedly showed themselves to be the very fulfillment of the “last days” scenario. For we read in 2 Peter 3:3-4, “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days SCOFFERS, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming?...”
The Lord warned us it would be just as it was in the days of Noah and the days of Lot. No doubt, Noah was mocked and ridiculed for his message of the pending judgment. They probably scoffed and laughed at his “crazy idea” of a flood… Lot’s sons in law could not take him serious; they felt he was just joking around. (see Genesis 19:14) They were so hardened by the surroundings of Sodom that they couldn’t imagine God sending judgment on them.
Mockery has been a characteristic of those who have rejected the message of the Lord from the beginning, the prophet Jeremiah spoke of it, (Jeremiah 20:7), the Apostle Paul encountered it, (see Acts 17:32-33), and even the Lord Jesus was mocked for what He said, (see Matthew 9:23-24)
Although my heart rejoiced last night after seeing so many come to Christ, it still breaks my heart to see the amount of people who have been so desensitized by the blasphemous, sacrilegious, irreverent, and profane world of entertainment; and to realize that so many who have been raised to love our Lord, now laugh at the mockery of their Savior and our Blessed Hope found in His return. God help us! Please read this final passage and let it sink into your heart…
2 Chronicles 36:16But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Big love to you all! – John Muncy ... 476&type=1
