As you know All Eagles All The Time 2010/2011 is an Archival/History in Videos and Still captures showing the various stages throughout the year in the lives of the Eagles on the Two Harbors Nest. on Catalina Island

We have followed them through the Nestorations and then onto the Eggs/Incubation stage. Next was the exciting stage of the Hatching of their chick and following it's Early Development in Here a Chick! There a Chick! .... Now we have reached Banding Day .... where the eaglet will get his/her 'wing blings' .... and start on the journey to become a fledgling.

In this topic we will also cover Branching ... although there are no actual tree branches on this nest to branch to, there are rocks around the edge of the nest that the eaglet may use instead .... and the final stage of Fledging. This will be both a joyous and sad time for us all .... we will be sorry to see him/her leave the nest .... but we will wish K-18 Safe Journeys when that time finally happens.

As you know all these Videos and Stills have been selected .. as their favourites .. by the members who have captured them on Nest Watch. You can see more videos and still pictures by visiting the Daily Observations thread. Also known as Nest Watch.

Again we ask that you not post comments in this thread Viewing Only Please. This will enable faster viewing by Dr. Peter Sharpe and the IWS Team ... for record purposes ... and also for Members and visitors to the forum.

Capturers are asked to wait until Cumbrian or EDblue (Eagle Duo) posts the first thread of each day before oosting or reserving a space for your videos and/or captures of the day to keep continuity to the archives.

TODAY I GOT MY WINGBLINGS!

May 22, 2011

12:21-28pm - Dr. Sharpe begins his approach, closes in, and shows the eaglet it's useless to resist
Ooooh, this does not look good...

I'm liking this less and less...

Unhand me or I'll bite you!

After some time back on the nest the shock wore off, and K-18 finally flopped down to rest--
and barely finds the energy to check out a passing visitor - 4:07pm

Things really began to improve when the adults dropped by; K-81 administered a post-banding meal - 4:13pm

TODAY I GOT MY WINGBLINGS!

May 22, 2011

................................Oh what a day it was! Today I met Dr. Sharpe and Steffani.

.............Dr. Sharpe used the old stick technique to distract me and then he snatched me up.
........................................

I let him know though that I was none too happy and I bit his gloved hand a few times.

I got a shiny new band on my leg and some blings on my wings and then Steffani brought me back home.

................................................................... Aren't I beautiful???

GETTING USED TO THE BLINGS!

May 23, 2011

K18 spent most of the day recovering from her funk of band & bling day. This morning she could barely move. Mom took pity on her and brought the food over to feed her... that is after she snatched it away from K81 who had brought it.

After a while, she was back to her usual feisty self and even had a bit of a hissy fit.

As the sun goes down, she does some wingerdances.
