I know white pine is the most favored for chainsaw carving but I do not carve with this much..Been carving less than a year, what is the best wood?
I have become very fond of Cedar.. Mostly White cedar. It carves great, smells good and looks nice.
Second/third up for me is Oak and Ash. I like carving it but beats the crap out of my tools. They do finish very nice and will outlast anything pine.
