widen blade how?

Hi all how can I widen a Stihl 16 inch blade its getting so chain will not move through. thank you

Sometimes when it happens it's the chain, did you try a new one? You can also use a sharply folded piece of sandpaper and run it back & forth along the groove, takes awhile tho. Never had any luck spreading it...

Thanks I will try the sand paper I did pinch new blade on a small tree that is all it takes, I just had all 3 chainsaws blow up on bad gas one saw was 3 weeks old just not having any luck. And Stihl I hate your new 170 it seems so plastic and cheep and the new gas & oil caps suck,

When it's not the chain I've used a screw driver to gently open them up and then dress them. Sounds crude but it worked.How ya doin' Sylvia?

ok Art I will try that, I am not doing good about 50% now its my eyes Retonopathy so $1000 an eye shots both eyes every month for who knows how many months 3 so far and thats not fun hurts more than caterac surgery

Saw shops often use metal plates that are the width of the groove...e.g. .050, 058, 063. They're about 2" x 4" and you set them in the groove and slide/tap it down the length.
