Thinking about ordering this for my ms250 or ms170 saw:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360487188563?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
It would be my first carving bar. I see the kits come with bar, chain, and sprocket. I never see the kits come with a file for sharpening, i do all my own sharpening so i want a file. How do you know what files to buy. The last 3 stihl saws ive bought have came with a few files so i didnt have to figure out what ones i need.
Also is that a good price for that carving bar kit? Thanks

Baileys woodland pro is a cannon bar.
https://www.baileysonline.com/Chainsaw- ... -Bar-Kits/

the ebay deal sounds good
Baileys lists a different kit for the MS250 but in the Oregon catalogue it is the same powermate part 544658X

The file should be a standard 5/32"

Be aware that the 250 is overspowered for the rating of the carving chain. (rated at 38cc)
The MS250 is also heavier than the MS170.

If you are comfortable with the heavier saw you may be happier with the extra power.
If you are a beginner on chainsaws and carving stay with the MS170.

Just my opinion

Thanks, i really want to use it on the ms170. I have been using saws for 10-12 yrs so no comfort issues at all. But i did not know the kit was on the weak side for my ms250 thanks for bringing that up.

I am running my 05 dime on a 42cc saw and love the extra power.
The 043 chain has an even lower rating.

I also own 3 MS170 saws.
