The seller for the back door El Materdor is one I personally avoid. They have burned me several times by either outright cancelling an order, or claiming it was lost in shipping. When stuff has arrived, it is not the item in the picture, but one in worse condition (paint chips, bad decals, etc.).

The backdoor rarities have really dried up, now it's all common stuff.  I've had some very good experiences buying the rarities from China, but not from this seller.  It all comes from Mattel at some point, there's no way that many are being sold without Mattel tacitly letting it happen.

I believe they can fake packages as well.

The Chinese can fake everything, and often do, but it's far easier to sell actual Mattel production out the back door and turn a blind eye to it while you reap the higher profits.  I also follow board gaming, and it's been noted fakes there are rising as well, but the difference there is they are fakes, easy to spot, and obviously not "factory production" since anyone can print an artwork. It's far harder to make steel tooling and make fake diecasts.

That El Materdor on ebay is a fake.  I have 2 real ones and compared that one on ebay to mine.  The tampos look like reproductions of the real ones that were done on some printer.

While the artwork might be fake on that El Materdor; the body casting isn't. El Materdor has a special body, and that one matches (bumps around wheel wells for tassles). It's more like the poor photography is throwing off the appearance.  It's possible that Mattel will re-introduce El Materdor in 2018, just as they re-introduced Chuy and Bessie, other rare models, a few years ago.
