So my son and I just finished a 2900+ mile road trip out West through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona.  Much of it was along 'Route 66'.  We stopped and looked at "Ramone's" in Shamrock, Texas, we sprayed some paint on the 'Cadillac Ranch' cars, and were on I-40 and I-44 from Gallup to St. Louis. In Albuquerque we looked at two filming locations for "Breaking Bad" -- the Walter White house, and the site of "Los Pollos Hermanos" -- where we ate lunch.

Sounds like great fun! I wish I could do such a trip someday.

But my wife needs to hurry up and win the lottery first. ;-)

I've driven the entirety of 66 (though not all at once) roughly five times now.  The old sections in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and California are rapidly disappearing now ... the first time was when I was 21 in 1982 -- this trip, my son had just turned 21.
