I said elsewhere I think Grubauer gets the 3 first games of the B2Bs, and here's why: the playoffs start the 12th, and Verizon Center? Red Hot Chili Peppers at 9:00 PM... so the Caps won't start until the 13th at the earliest. If Holtby doesn't play the 9th (Panthers, last reg season game) but the Bruins on the 8th, he'll have 5 full days off (at least) before the playoffs (Boston is an afternoon game).

Now, the 4th and 5th, same problem- if he plays Tor on the 4th, he'll have almost 5 full days off until Florida. He could do the B2b here, but do you really want him to face CBJ, Tor, NYR, and possibly Bos in the space of 7 days and then have him get 5 days rest? It seems having him get the Rangers and Panthers is the best compressed schedule to keep him in condition going into the playoffs.

I still think Grubauer gets the front end of all 3 B2Bs- Wild, Toronto, and Boston, but who knows?

Capitals team scope

The Capitals lead the Pittsburgh Penguins by one point and the Columbus Blue Jackets by three points in the Metropolitan Division, Eastern Conference and NHL with 104 points entering play Saturday. Washington is on a three-game winning streak following a 2-1 shootout win against the Blue Jackets on Thursday which ended a 1-4-1 stretch in its previous six games. "I think looking at all nine of these (remaining) games, until we can secure our spot that we would like, they're all must-wins," coach Barry Trotz said. "I can't tell you one that would not be. These ones when you're playing a team you feel that is young and maybe not as experienced, you worry about the readiness but I think we recognize the situation and it'll be on the players. We have no room to let anybody steal points at our arena at any time right now." Braden Holtby, who is 4-0-1 with 10 goals allowed in his past five games, will start in goal. Captain Alex Ovechkin is two goals (554) from tying Johnny Bucyk for 26th place on the NHL's goal scoring list.

"Ovechkin is the third player in NHL history with 30 goals in his first 12 seasons, joining Mike Gartner and Wayne Gretzky."

Yes, and Ovechkin did that with one of 12 seasons having only 48 games.
