5:00 in, the Wings seem to be the better team so far, but the score is still 0-0.

Game on.
Halfway through the first, I'd still say Detroit has controlled the play and the action. Stats say the same- SOGs 5-3, hits 5-3, takes 3-1, blocks 3-2, and faceoffs 55%, all Wings....

Game on.
There's only been one penalty so far, on the Wings. Killed it easily.

After a save by Giguere at 6:11 left, there's a fracas and pileup, but no penalties...

Game on.
Now the same thing happens in front of Hasek, and this time, there are calls- three of them altogether, with the Ducks getting another PP out of it.

Another all important Game 5. The winner controls the series. Pronger back for the Ducks, no changes for the Wings.

Game on.
Once again, with several clears, Detroit kills it easily. Another save by Hasek, and another Ducks' PP coming up. Shorthanded, the Wings get a 3 on 2 break....

0-0 end 1st, the Ducks with :54 left on a PP when the 2nd starts.

Game on.
After flurries of action at both ends, some great passing by the Wings breaks the tie. A drop pass to the second man in, a cross-ice pass to the third man trailer.

1-0

Game on.
5:44 left 2nd, the Wings going on a PP.

Detroit still leads in every stat category, particularly SOGs (20-10). Ducks need to kill this off and come up big the rest of the game, or face facts.

And now, :35 of Betty.... cleared at :15, and the Betty is done.... good D and a Giguere save.... cleared.... killed. Giguere another save. Detroit up to 26 SOGs already, the Ducks still at 10.

Game on.
Icing Ducks at :46.4 left 2nd.

:20 left in the period, and Hasek misplays a puck behind his net.... the Ducks keep it, and a mad flurry at the end of the period gives them a chance, but no goal.

1-0 Red Wings, end 2nd.

Stats after 2: SOGs 26(11-15)-11(8-3), hits 18-8, takes 6-3, gives 3-7, blocks 7-5, faceoffs 57%, all in Detroit's favor.

Yet, it's only a 1 goal game.

The Ducks finally control play for a few minutes, and a Wings' penalty is the result. 16:08 left in regulation.

Blocked and clear by Franzen....  1:20 left in the PP, and a Pronger penalty. 4 on 4 skating.

Now the 4 on 4 is over; the Wings buzz all around for their short :40 PP, but no more goals. Back to ES. There's 12:45 left in regulation. Hitting picking up both ways.

Game on.
5:30 left in regulation. SOGs this period are 7-3 Detroit.... Ducks with way too many men on the ice, but no call.... 4:19 left, a penalty on Anaheim. This could be the series.

If nothing else, the Wings can eat clock here. 3:29 left reg, Detroit offside (1:20 left on the PP).... 2:19 the penalty is killed.... at the 2:00 mark, Detroit with a chance.... 1:47 left, Datsyuk called for interference.

Last chance for the Ducks.... empty net for the Ducks, so it's 6 on 4.... Wings clear it, but miss the net....  Detroit misses a chance to clear the zone, wild action....

tie game with :47.3 left in regulation.

Game on.
9:00 left, Hasek easy glove save. Ducks' first SOG in about 4:00.

8:53, Hasek save with a cover.... looks to me like the Ducks are pulling out all the stops-all the play in front of Hasek....

Selanne a steal, and he scores!

2-1 Ducks win, and take a 3-2 lead in games.
