I've finally decided to stop here. So have a good game, Roger! Hopefully, the Caps will take control of the game in the third period, and not only in the last minutes of it. They have been too passive, and you can't do that against these guys.

No need to wait until you're facing elimination to play hard. Do that now and you won't have to face it. Let's go, Caps!

Now DS-p dropped to the 4th, Chiasson up... Caps seem to be winning more boards now, according to radio 14:43 left reg and a timeout...

back and forth, chances for both... 9:32 left, a timeout...

9:27 Kuz denied after a real good end to end shift, Ovechkin berating him for not giving it up to Ovechkin...

icing Pens at 8:49 left... great pass to Oshie at 6:20, but he can't find it in the traffic... 6:09 stoppage... icing Pens at 5:29...

lost in all the excitement is Backstrom to the locker room almost 7:00 ago, hasn't returned...

Ovechkin driving in... Vrana!!!!

Malkin to Motta misses the net on a good chance... now Murray under great pressure... 2:11 left reg...

Murray pulled at 2:00, but puck out of play, faceoff at center, and he's back in... pulled at 1:47...

OSHIE!!!!! ENG!!!!! 1:31 left reg, EN... stoppage at :47.9, Guentzel cruches Carlson, and tempers flare... Carlson stays on the bench... :38.1 icing Caps... Holtby fights one off from in close at :22... :14.2 icing Caps...

Eller!!!!!! ENG :05.4!!!!!!

Board word is Backstrom blocked a shot with his hand, maybe a fracture... we shall see.

Satisfying final score of 6-3.

Backstrom is not on the bench. Something's been off all game. He wasn't taking faceoffs. Stephenson was.

Noe CapRat at Bumper's posts:

Upper body injury for Backstrom according to Trotz. CSN folks showed the blocked shots as possible evidence.

Vrana was really composed after the game. Then he let his guard down. “Obviously, it feels really f—king good.”
