So it's Oleksiak that's gonna go with Wilson. Bad trade for the Casps, I think.

Need a big kill already.

4 on 4, good play Holtby...

Malkin added to their PP changes things, of course, and to their general lineup. Without him, they only had one line. Now perhaps Kessel becomes dangerous again.

Hornqvist to the box. 1:17 of 4-on-4, then a short PP for the Caps.

Short PP, but a great one for the Caps. Started with Eller still 4-on-4 who brought the puck into the offensive and kept it long enough to allow the PP to start.

Kessel hasn't been all that much, and from what I read the Pens want/need to get him in gear. On the 3rd line tonight, I think.

Oshie to the box with a big smile. He got a great chance before that, fanned on the shot, I believe.

I hope he'll get out of the box with a smile too, and why not score on the breakaway, LOL.

At Bumper's I said

Don't know how he got it, but he let the ref know it was bogus.

So great to see that smile again- the guy is ready tonight.

Looks like Orpik had touched a puck that Holtby still managed to stop.

Caps looking good, but they must not spend too much time in the box. The Pens' PP looks better with Malkin back.

Kempny with a good shot = Shattenkirk for a fraction of the salary.

Hot situation for Holtby but no goal.

And another one held by Holtby.

Ovechkin is upset.

Kuznetsov with a good hit.

Caps fighting hard.

But it ended with a good chance for the Pens. Holtby strong.

Wow, Eller a great shot that rolled on Murray's belly and glided along the goal line... that was close.

Caps must try shots like that, to get rebounds. They defend well for now, but not enough offense.

Ovechkin with a semi-breakaway, the puck escapes, he gets it back, passes, etc.

Penalty against the Pens now and I stopped my stream by mistake.

Good kill by the Pens, and they ring Holtby's post after that!

And another PP for the Caps, stupid tripping of Niskanen.

Ovechkin's shot went through Murray, then so close to the post.

First intermission, 0-0.

I intended to stop here, but I think I'll watch a bit of the second period, at least the rest of the PP.

Pens defending well on the PK, but still the Caps created some serious offense and the Pens will be scared every time they'll be a man down. The Caps, not so much.

0-0 end 1st, little bit of PP left to start the 2nd.

Pretty good road period considering the importance of the game, not intimidated at all by either the Pens or the refs.

Kuz has been rather quiet, Connolly's penalty took ice time from Vrana (and Chiasson)- I'm gonna watch for these two the next 40:00.

Oh, crap, tied. Guentzel. Deflection on shot by Schultz.

But it's OK. The period started at 0-0. No reason to feel down.

That's their first lead of the series, I think.

Wilson is a superstar in Pittsburgh, LOL. It was a shoulder to the head, I think. Blood on the ice. Wilson smiling.

No penalty. I think it was almost head to head, Wilson took risks too. But it seems his shoulder hit the head of the guy first. He didn't jump, I don't think it was an illegal hit.

STEPHENSON!!!! 2-2.

Pens were not playing well at all since the hit. That will teach the crowd to cheer for their team instead of whining.

Perfect moment to stop for me. Have a great game, Roger. The Caps are doing great. Whatever happens, they have nothing to fear from this team. They can beat them in every game.

Before I go: Trotz shows his shoulder. Yes, I think it was shoulder to shoulder, then head to head.

Now Letang threatening Wilson. I think it's all good for the Caps, the Pens are not totally into the game.

Great scrum around 6:50 left 2nd... works out to a 5 on 4 for the Pens- Ovechkin and Wilson for Caps, Oleksiak on the Pens...

killed with a HUGE save from Niskanen, 2 SOGs on it...

4:05 they go 4 on 4... and a a fasiled Caps clear, a couple of sharp passes, the last to Crosby, and it'S 3-2 Pens with 1:28 of 4 on 4 to go...

Pen to the box for too many at 1:02 left 2nd...

3-2 Pens with a little PP coming for the Caps to start the 3rd.

Milbury used my exact words on the Wilson hit- "Hit the shoulder, rode up through to the head..."

3rd period is going to be some fun playoff hockey.

Caps with 12 (count 'em) 12 SOGs after 2...

Caps are playing well enough tonight, and the Pens are in the comfort zone. All the penalties have kept the bottom 6 ice time way down, and they still got a goal (so far). Stay out of the box in the 3rd, and those 6 guys should feast on some tired legs for the Pens.

3rd on...

17:47 Caps offside, Pens had most of the play so far... the next 1:00 is all Caps, and the next 1:00 too...

NIskanen!!! Tie game!!!

14:54 left reg...

Caps control play to 11:30, Pens take over to 9:55 icing Pens... 9:41, icing Caps... Pens miss a 3 on 2 at 7:10 left...

6:05 out of play, Beagle line had a 2 on 1 pass get tipped, and finished off a great shift... 5:37 puck off Niskanen into the Pens' bench, TV timeout... hand pass Pens in the neutral zone at 4:45 left, more time out, time to let the air out of the Pittsburgh balloon... 3:17... 3:10, stoppage...

icing Caps at 2:46... all Pens... but at 1:11 the Caps get a break... 2 on 1 Backstrom to... Ovechkin!!!

4-3 Caps 1 :07 left reg, Pens do the timeout thing.
