“Chain migration” is what has happened in this country for a long time. My husband’s grandmother came with her mother to this country LAST in 1916 —— after her father came, then her older brothers and sisters. Sent for two at a time as money allowed until they all got here. But because they were white, because they came from Russia, because it happened over one hundred years ago, somehow it doesn’t have that negative term placed against it.

I am fine with chain migration...Trump is misinformed.  A 2013 study showed  immigrants sponsor an average of 3.45 family members (he often claims 22!)  Also...there are already work, health, security and education requirements for any person entering the country via the lottery.

Oh man...Sean Hannity and President Obama's portrait...Sean's accusation of secret semen in the portrait and all that...freaking crazy stuff. I think they are coming to take Sean away! Ha ha!

On that note...I need to clear my brain of it all and get skiing before the weather craps out in NH.  Hopefully Trump gets shot down with his crazy food box idea too.  Keep on it people!

The food box idea—- I didn’t think it could get any more ridiculous, then that story broke. It’s so silly I first thought it was an Onion story.

And now for something completely different (cough, cough)
“Michael D. Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, said on Tuesday that he paid $130,000 out of his own pocket to a pornographic-film actress who had once claimed to have had an affair with Mr. Trump.“ - NYT

Yes, we all know that lawyers will pay OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET settlements for their clients, especially when they are using shell corporations to do it.

Maybe forget about skiiing and focus on curling up north, Karly ?

There is a curling organization up there...
Mt. Washington Valley Curling something-or-other.

And I bet anything that during Olympic week they will be hosting
something  special at the town rink in North Conway this weekend!

Good information and you are right about the Ham Arena.  Maybe Damon can get his curling career started up in the Valley.  They are known for producing Winter Olympians!

In case you're interested in how we came to this dangerous place, Sinclair Lewis wrote an excellent book: It Can't Happen Here.

it's almost as if he knew all about Lord Feltersnatch before Lord Feltersnatch was born.

It's on sale at all the usual places (Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, etc.) for $1.99 right now.

It is well past time to vote every person taking money from the NRA out of office.  We can do it and it is the only way our children will stop being the sacrifice for ridiculous gun ownership and purchase laws that some insist on.

The only gun policy the NRA the Republicans have (and too many Democrats, too) is "How can we make it even easier for mentally ill people to amass an arsenal?"

Obama ran afoul of the NRA these politicians when he made it slightly more difficult for mentally ill people to buy unlimited firepower. Fortunately for the gun industry, Lord Donald "Bonespur" Feltersnatch also promotes making arsenal acquisition as easy as it possibly can be for mentally ill people, so he revoked Obama's order.

These politicians do the bidding of the gun manufacturers NRA, the lobbying arm of gun owners the gun manufacturers, who care only about maximizing profits. And that means making it as easy as possible for anyone, including mentally ill people, to amass an arsenal.

Sadly, the dopes who are the membership of the NRA believe it is there to lobby for their interests. It is no -- the majority of NRA members want sensible background checks. But the NRA opposes these because they do NOT represent ths dopes who join it; they represent the gun manufacturing industry.

And you can't cut into profits if you're an industry lobbyist.

All these dead children (and others) are just the cost of doing business.

And the dopes who are the membership of the NRA will continue to blindly support this carnage. Vehemently so.

A nation full of crazy,  angry people on phsyc meds and 200,000,000 plus guns. A real mess and no way to fix it.  Armed guards, metal detectors  and fences around schools probably the  next step.

If only something halfway sensible like "well-regulated" could be added to the Second.....oh, wait.
