OK, I'll start it.   Can they protest  yes.    should they protest?  I'm at the point where it makes no difference.    Is the media blowing it all out of proportion?  of course, like they do with everything.   is the president an idiot for getting involved?  yes, but obviously he can't help himself.  Would I vote for him again?  yes, if he was again running against a Hilliary.  would I vote for him in the future (if we have one) ?  The dems would have to put up something better than what they had in 2016.            Will this get worse before it gets better?  definitely yes.     It's going to be a crazy 4 years!!!     kind of like we expected, but not to this level of idiocy.
You think you know it, but you haven't got a clue!!

With his inflammatory rhetoric to North Korea looking like it may start missiles flying toward the U.S., I'm not sure we have to worry about another election.  He's an idiot and should be removed from office before he kills all of us.

Nightstalker, your loyalty to the Big Guy is awesome and impressive,
what with so many of us thinking he is totally evil and nuts!

I am no Hilary fan but I do not think she holds a candle to Trump for
pure evil and stupidity.

I think some Trump voters are doubling down because they have cognitive dissonance over their direct role in the potential and perhaps even likely end of our planet...at least as we know it.

I think other Trump voters don't (still and yet) understand what his election has unleashed not only on the U.S. but on the planet Earth.  I don't know how that is possible but it is the only explanation I can come up with for posts like Night's.

I don't think Trump really cares if they take a knee or not, it's just more raw meat for his base.

The ultimate fall from grace kicking a man (the NFL) when he's down.

I agree it's classic cognitive dissonance.  Trump supporters pre-election have two MAJOR ""tag lines" ---

America Great Again and Crooked Hillary.  It remains to be seen who is more crooked but anything else would be cognitive dissonance of the truth.

Cognitive dissonance is true for making America great again.  The stock markets doing good but might be headed for a major crash. The economy is going in an unpresidented direction and is it based on whimsical tweets or solid staff advisement? Trump supporters don't WANT TO hear legitament criticism - that would've dissonant.

Other than that he has done a lot to obliterate this country or another one.  Pushing the tag line great again can be created by fake invited?
audiences of thousands that hear him speak - and millions on TV, strengthen the great again and make it nearly impossible (dissonant) for the pre-Trump election supporter to NOT vote for him TODAY.

The commissioner suspends Brady for allegedly deflating a football suspends another player for hitting his girlfriend for spitting in his face which had nothing to do with football but does nothing for a player disrespecting the flag, country, and people who are serving and have served.
Why was no action taken by the commissioner for this despicable act?
I understand that it is a first amendment right but it should have been addressed with a warning or a suspension or some type of action

Off the wall perhaps with no ability to screen himself...but I think it is better to have one nut job against another nut job in the hope that Kim will be afraid of him somehow. If someone has a better way to deal with North Korea let's hear it. Kim will keep advancing his deadly agenda until he has enough destructive power to be a player on the world stage.  Trump is certainly not evil. Reckless and an untraditional president to be sure but...well, time will tell soon enough.  There are still some smart people in government and I will rely on them.

trumpski supporters would have to admit that they were wrong, which they cannot do, so they will follow him right into the toilet.

There is not place too low that they will not go to support this fool

When trumpski starts a war with North Korea, they will blame it on the Democrats and call it all fake news

Tackling Paid Patriotism

A Joint Oversight Report by U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake

November, 2015

https://www.mccain.senate.gov/public/_c ... report.pdf

"Unfortunately, contrary to the public statements made by DOD and the NFL, the majority of the contracts—72 of the 122 contracts we analyzed—clearly show that DOD paid for patriotic tributes at professional football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer games. These paid tributes included on-field color guard, enlistment and reenlistment ceremonies, performances of the national anthem, full-field flag details, ceremonial first pitches͕ and puck drops. The National Guard paid teams for the “opportunity” to sponsor military appreciation nights and to recognize its birthday. It paid the Buffalo Bills to sponsor its Salute to the Service game.  DOD even paid teams for the “opportunity” to perform surprise welcome home promotions for troops returning from deployments and to recognize wounded warriors."

However, if you walked into your boss's office and called him a moron, you have exercised your first amendment rights, but still be fired. Just saying.

agreed that Trump is off is rocker but this thread is supposed to be more about the anthem protests and not support for him. (although I probably shouldn't have brought him up into it)   I realize that hatred for him with most here is high but in this case let's just stick to the 'protests' and the way the NFL (and all other sports soon) will handle it and people's feelings about what they are doing.

I keep thinking that we need to give him a chance but every week he is proving it might be fruitless.

What was truly most disrespectful yesterday were those fans who booed and shouted during the national anthem. The irony of it escapes them, of course.

As for Dun's "This is what you get when politics crosses into sports!"?  Utter bullshit...are you completely unaware of the history of the NFL and its colour bar?  You are embarrassing yourself.

And, "disrespecting the flag, country, and people who are serving and have served"?  -- more classic cluelessness.
