I spent a few days finally updating my antique website, Cape Ann Web.  I checked every darn link on the Community listing page - think they all work now.

Revisited some cool sites during the process and found one of my favorites:

http://www.shuteandmerchant.com/

The Shute and Merchant Company was once located at the Head of the Harbor in Gloucester.

Mary Palstrom, a descendant of the founders, has done a lot of updating and redesigning since I last visited her site - cool stuff!

When Mary first put up her site I discovered the daughter of Orlando Merchant was my childhood neighbor. I eventually bought the house after she passed and sent her items I found in the house going back to the Shute & Merchant Company. She has done a wonderful job with that site.

Kudos to people who expend enormous amount of time and resources recording local histories. It is an invaluable service to society.

Cathy -- thanks for making Shute & Merchant the site of the day.  Hope every now and then a few more people will happen across the site, and maybe even have some info to share.  Still have some things to add, and maybe once the cold weather arrives and more indoor activities are needed, I'll finally get around to those.

The site looks great, Mary.  I hear you about the time thing, lol - my website was so out-of-date.  Glad you checked in and I'll share your site wherever I can because it is a treasure.
