The extreme is New York diners. Tons of choices, food is out in a flash and entirely satisfying. $$

Then the Paprika Grill, small simple menu with sometimes a special. His falafel is the best. Wraps, salads gyro, lamb, beef, shrimp, chicken - all grilled, $

The Happy Belly had FRESH ROAST coffee/iced coffee and pastry which was from the pastry chef in Browns Mall. That’s as I got on the menu. The pastries were right at the take out register. $$

So I hear Katrina's is closing. Is it just for the season or permanently?

Sounds like they are closing for good.  I haven't been for a while - I thought it had become a pretty good local music scene.  The Singer-Songwriter Challenges were fun.  I liked it like I liked Giuseppe's, though not quite as much but for the same reasons - small, intimate, good music. I really miss Giuseppe's - you never knew who would show up and join the final set of a performer or group.  And I am so very much a fan of piano bars.  :-)

Katrina's started off pretty good. Decent food and a nice clean atmosphere. However the place followed the same trajectory as the owners/managers spiraling slowly into chaos.

I heard Dogbar is moving in there. And Gatteneri wants to put a cigar bar in the old House of Mitch.

Looks like another one bites the dust in Rockport. The phone for Seaside Pizzeria is no longer in service. Just went by there and the place is locked up and all the furniture has been cleared out.

It would be nice if a place that served pizza and panninis went in there or the old Studio Crepe location.

??? Sheesh.  The space is listed, apparently has been for while. ("This is an active business so please be discrete if you visit during business hours.")  Hope they find a new location.

Paprika Grill was my go to place. Best quality take out eats for the priced in town IMHO.

Since last summer he talked about other Gloucester locations (on or off Main Street) or a food truck. A customer owned space available in town.

Paprika is moving to Center Street (of all places)
Katrinas is being renovated (work was stopped because of no building permit) and is going to be (can't say it publicly yet)
No word on the Mitch's thing and heard another Italian in the Dog Bar location (?)
You think you know it, but you haven't got a clue!!

That's what we need! Another Italian Restaurant, whose "authenticity" everyone can bitch about!

Simon Prudenzi was granted a seasonal all-alcohol license last fall for a restaurant in the old Dog Bar location to be called Paisano's.  Haven't heard anything since.

Dog Bar owner has an all-year full liquor license - and no place to go?

Center St. might not be so bad for Paprika - right in the middle of the downtown business district.  An easy walking location for the quick-lunch crowd from all directions.  I can see it working for them.

There was an item on the January 16 Licensing Board agenda for an application for a seasonal all-alcohol license for a Hosman Hospitality Group dba Drift Cafe at 3 Main St.  That's where Cafe, Brew and Spirits is located (formerly Caffe Dolce).  New place?  The last post on the Cafe, Brew and Spirits' FB page:

There are not enough "ordinary" dining options in town already?! Please.

And it's not about either/or extremes.

Cafe Brew and Spirits has changed hands. The format will stay the same from what I understand. One rumor going around about Katrina' s is that Passports is going to open a tapas type restaurant there.

It baffles me why you would want Taco Bell when we have Taco Lupitas, which is as affordable as take out gets. Plus, we already have Subway and McDonalds. Did I mention all 4 grocery stores offer cheap pre-made food?
