One day, the hare jogged it’s merry way to the market to get a daily feed of carrots.  On the way there a tortoise lumbered along. As the hare pasted he’d say “what’s up doc” to the tortoise.

Day after day the hare passed the tortoise with the same greeting. It was in the routine.to get the dairy carrots. Just like sunrise and sunset.

But the tortoise was getting a little faster over time but the hare really didn’t care.... and the next day ... and the next ....

Sometime later the hare noticed a difference but still said “What’s up Doc” as he passed the hare - not caring.

[you see the tortoise was going through an internal metamorphosis and internally about to become the fastest being on earth AND BY A HUNDRED FOLD.]

So on that next fateful day the hare was running and just barely caught up to the tortoise and then ... boooom the tortoise took off like a lightning bolt.

When the hare reached the market   all the carrots were gone.  But the tortoise left a note “beep your ass - Carrots = rocket fuel”

Trump said there will be water, very wet water, and lots of it. There will be rain and water like no one has seen before. There will be more rain and wet water that has been seen in a century, perhaps as much as a decade. You have been warned.

See that all the yellow blippage on the coast of Africa?
On the very bottom right.

Although the Cone of Uncertainty is still very large...

I have feeling that something out of that mess is heading to Gloucester!
So says the House of Mitch Weather Station.

The cone might be just a little smaller:

DM says...

"I have feeling that something out of that mess is heading to Gloucester!
So says the House of Mitch Weather Station."

House of Mitch predictions of all kinds are the gold standard.  Keep us informed!   I am counting on their election forecasts a bit closer to November.  We've got some important races in MA and NH this year.  For now...the storms.

This is looking like a really bad one. Almost like Hugo last year. Just gonna sit in the general vicinity of landfall and drop rain for a few days.

This is from last year but it gives you the basic idea.  Coastal planners in NC aren't allowed to use the suggested climate change sea level rise estimates because it would be bad for real estate business.  So they made up a really low number and they use that so people will buy in vulnerable areas.

Florida did something like banning any mention of climate change too. I suggested "loss of valuable real estate" as a substitute. 😒

Good news turns into bad news.....The hurricane was downgraded to a cat 2 but the bad news is it's expanding in area and slowing down it's movement which means longer sustained high winds and storm surge battering much more of the coast.

Looks like the City Council better get cracking and pass a law against sea-level rise.

Surely they can protect us as well as the NC legislature protects their citizens.

The GHS students researched this in conjunction with Mass Audubon and made a presentation to the community last spring.  I'll have to track back and see if it is available online anywhere or whether their poster boards are on view.

The City has been researching, planning and has gotten a number of grants to help with this.  I think very few people in Gloucester are in denial about climate change!

I think our City needs more staff in the Planning Department.  Development alone is more than a full-time job.  Gregg Cademartori, the Planning Director, is excellent...I don't know how he can do so much at the same time. Definitely more staff in that area would be good for work on climate change planning.

The Salem State work posted by William is scary but does not include the impact of wave damage, which would be devastating on  top of the floods.

Dun, to me the slowing means indeed sustained wave battering but perhaps knowing the topography around the Cape Fear River more important the salt water rise acting as a dam preventing the creeks and rivers from draining. This is just awful.

Don't see that very often in these parts.
