(Only 12 inch seas?)
Opps! I had to take the dog out but I did hear they are in 5' deep water and their anchor is holding.

I am only hearing routine stuff from CG Boston now. Turning it off.
It sounds like they are ok, but perhaps not their boat.

The Gloucester times web site says they are on the back side of Cranes Beach. If that is the case I hope the Gloucester police boat is not going through the entrance tonight to help them. They would be in greater danger than the stuck motor boaters.

I saw that, the big question is why these guys went out in a small boat in terrible weather?

They had wet suits on?  Diving? Strange story so far.

After what I could hear on the scanner about the sea conditions , why would someone go out in them in the first place.  When they said seas were 12 ft.  I figured the GPD boat could never get out of the river.

Well, they were in Essex Bay, not out in Ipswich Bay. Of course the GPD boat would have to go through the river and Ipswich Bay and then through the wild entrance to Essex Bay to reach them. That was surely out of the question.
I am really wondering what on earth the two wet suiters were up to though. Something is being left out of this story.

I heard that they were members of the DiMeo family out of New York who were sent here on "family business."

No other details are available, nor will they ever be, currents, tides, and erosion permitting.

Thanks ;) Kite surfing never crossed my mind.
I like Fortune Cookie's rationale though.

Kite surfing or not they never should have ventured with a boat in any bay in bad weather conditions. They could have endangered rescuers just trying to get to them.

OMG.

We are right in the middle of Nate's Cone of Uncertainty.

This can't be good.

The only thing we will know about Nate is high winds and some rain, Monday night.  Harvey went over our heads as well.  We hardly noticed.  --  peregrine

I do not think we are entitled to complain about hurricane damage quite yet.
