Texas bracing for Harvey

August 25th, 2017, 8:05 pm #102

We often hear about hurricanes up the East Coast but I can't remember much about Texas...

What a monster Harvey has turned out to be. Went to Cat 4 very quickly
Looks like one of the heaviest rains ever in the next few days.

I see that when I entered Lancaster, NH it defaulted to Berlin -- examining the map, it looks like Lancaster will be in the zone of totality, at least for a short while. .

Lucky you!

I dropped a pin on Lancaster -- it looks like the Intersection of highways 2 and 3 will have 1 minute, 3 seconds of totality.

If you head up to Newport you'll get about 3 and a half minutes.

How odd. I thought I had posted these in the eclipse thread.

At least I posed in another thread about a natural phenomenon! (Or did Yuku do this to me?)

The power and duration of these things is always amazing.

Harvey was just a tropical low pressure wave off Africa three weeks ago.
It looks like we get the wet remnants on Sunday.

Hope they move the schooner festival date.

Looks like a 100% chance of rain on Sunday, but not much of it.

Sounds drizzly. Maybe not so bad.

Irma looks like she's going to be a whopper. Throwing off a good variety of spaghetti!

And if Irma lands here it could be a bit before we are annihilated by Planet X.

September looks rough in all sorts of ways. A tough, complicated month!

I think it is beyond those with a science doctorate, Damon. Maybe it is time for prayer.  Though who do we pray to?  Maybe we make a big fire and dance.

September presents a true theology/science conflaguration, for sure.

I am not sure I get it, but I am studying it hard.

But anyway I was remiss in posting that complex chart on Post 113.
It belongs on the End of the World Thread, not the Hurricane thread.
I will move it over.

Well Harvey has arrived on Cape Ann (or remnants of).

Harvey is very tired, but strong enough to mess with our
Tall Ship schedule. He has travelled about 6,000 miles since
conception and has destroyed much property and many lives.
By the time he totally peters out over the North Atlantic he will
be a month old. These tropical storms have have amazing life spans.

Poor Florida.
This is one of the most severe graphics I have seen.
If it is anything close to accurate, it is a scary scenario.
