Even a standard "investigation still underway" pronouncement would be better than nothing.
Carmen Ortiz stepped down in January 2017

I did not know that.

Didn't know much about the Federal Attorney in Massachusetts, other than in relation to our Police issue.
After Carmen O. left in January, it looks like Trump did not put a new nominee forward until September. I don't see that a confirmation has happened yet.

Maybe that's why our local case is moving along slowly? Nobody in charge for all those months.

From what I heard the old guard detectives had quite the Harvey Keitel/Bad Lieutenant thing going on. Abusing female addicts, using them as snitches, the works. It was fairly common knowledge but they were untouchable.

Not sure but I think they stuck him in the overnight shift.

So, they are hiding him from the public.
Ha!  He gets all kinds of overtime with road details.  They're not hiding him.

From 2016...  I wonder if Campanello is part of the protected class..

GLOUCESTER — Leonard Campanello, the Police Chief of Gloucester, Massachusetts, will be recognized by the Obama administration at a ceremony at the White House next week, for his influential work to combat drug addiction.

Perhaps Campanello is now under the protection of the Deep State? Is that what you are thinking, stan?

Lame response, stan....as ever. You don't really read many of my posts, do you? You just assume.

Now, tell us your thoughts about the Illuminati.

Officers sue city, ex-chief

Two claim they were singled out for harassment

The patrolmen, Clifford Alves Jr. and Troy Simoes, say they were falsely blamed for leaking details of an ongoing investigation into police misconduct allegations and creating what the city contends was a fake Facebook page to post derogatory information and criticism of Campanello and others in the department.

Their lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court, also claims the department did not take action against “numerous” other officers for more serious issues, including domestic abuse, drug use and a hit-and-run crash that involved property damage.

In an undated letter in 2016, filed as an exhibit in the lawsuit, Simoes was asked about suspected contact with the media when Campanello, of Ipswich, was placed on leave.

The letter, which referred to a storage facility on Pond Road, was delivered to Simoes’ home and handed to his wife in what Chambers says was an attempt to mislead her into believing Simoes had some role in illicit activity at the site.

“Both of my clients are asserting they had nothing to do with that,” said Chambers.

Nor, he says, were they behind a Facebook page created under the name “Tom Hutchings,” where numerous claims against Campanello and other officers were posted.

Kind of makes me long for the days when a huge police scandal was about a pillow and blanket and napping in the back seat of a cruiser.

Still nothing on this or is the case closed? Deservedly or not, they disposed  of Campanello  pretty quickly, but for some reason there seems to be no conclusion in this case.

Well, after Carmen Ortiz left, I think the office was vacant for a long time. Almost a year.
Maybe that is the reason (or excuse) for getting backed up on this.
