I have definite problems with comcast, chiefly that here on Cape Ann it is for all practical purposes a monopoly.  Those Verizon FIOS ads drive me crazy LOL.

There is an outage, they're working on it but could be a long wait - says 7 PM on their message...sigh.

Comcast sent me a notice that my modem is obsolete? I was sent a new one barely a year ago! Anyway a new modem came 2 days ago and other than an activation page that pops up now and then seems to work no different than the old modem.

It would be nice to have FIOS, and great to have real competition,  But don't assume that Comcast is unreliable and FIOS is reliable.  All internet services have outages.

It might be a good idea to contact Comcast and see if your modem is out of date. Sometimes they don't notify you. A year ago I was having connectivity issues and after contacting them it turned out to be an outdated modem. This time they emailed me and after one click they sent out a new one and it arrived the next day!

It seems like, during severe weather, there is a spike in complaints about internet service.

And all other services.

I wonder if it's hard to keep their 'worst customer service' rating every year??? doubt it!!!

Better still - buy your own modem. Far cheaper than leasing theirs year after year.

And they have been charging you $10/month for it ever since.  You are much better off owning your own modem.  When I recently upgraded my Comcast internet to get a faster connection, I bought this modem:

It's $50, and it works perfectly.  And it has already paid for itself.

That would be good but I have the bundled package that includes phone in the modem. I did have a wireless Netgear adapter but in a few months that became obsolete with Xfinity.

Yes, I too have the bundled landline service and hope there is a modem that one day will handle that.

Unless you live way beyond cellular coverage...why anyone chooses to keep a house phone is beyond me.

Comcast makes it cheaper to bundle TV/interwebs/phone than to just get TV/interwebs...

Hmmm ... nowhere I have seen - but I'm happy to be wrong. (and the 'first year only' deals don't count.)
