So, ayuh - we got a "Like" button. You can "mention" a poster in your post, too. Typing the "@" symbol then the first couple of letters of the username will bring up a drop-down list from which you can choose the mentionee.

The default settings are set to send an email notification when someone likes your post or mentions you in a post. You need to go to your User Control Panel (when logged in, drop-down arrow next to your username, top right of the screen), to Board Preferences, to Edit notification options. There's a whole bunch of email notification options that you can opt out of including, at the bottom, "Trending email" which is some kind of weekly or bi-weekly newsletter alerting you to trending board topics.
I turned on a notification thing - the bell icon now appears top right and will have a small red dot to the right of it if you have a notification (like, mention). There are just so many darn things in the Admin panel to turn on, turn off, enable, disable ...
This is all so Facebooky - likes, mentions, notifications. I've often said that FB is just too much work - just as a participant - and now here we are, lol.
I do have to give props to the Tapatalk Team. It was a little sketchy in the beginning but, they took over I'm guessing a couple dozen different forum platforms all with different formats and features. The Support Board was a wild and crazy place for a few months with complaints of missing or unwanted features. Things are settling down and the support team is tweaking things and trying to respond to requests for features. They've been pretty responsive to changing things when a fair number of members make a request.

Access issues started last evening - system wide. Clicking on "Home Port" is redirecting to the Tapatalk home page or a log in page. It seems to be working fine for me now on my PC using Chrome or Firefox, works on my Android phone, but I'm still having the issue on my Kindle. Also have a report that the issue has not been resolved for a user on a Mac/Chrome.
