There is a lot of sitting on one's hand with local FB posts. The momentary laugh that people might get from my snark is not worth it long term. 🙄
The gun stuff is really hard for me to sit on my hands with!  However FB is not always an effective medium of change.  It can be a great medium for organization though.

Imagine that one day you are happy in your home cheerfully discussing with your spouse the appropriate wine to serve at the weekends dinner party and then having to confess putting a dent in the families three year old BMW..

then ..,

Months later you are fighting for raw survival in “the human flow” as depicted in Ai Wei Wei’s latest movie.  The story of wine and a bent BMW was fake but NOT FAR FROM TRUE.  Stories abound from middle class REFUGEES.

The film “Human Flow” will be shown TONIGHT at CAC&S 6:30-9PM and will include a Q&A with Cape Ann Forum chair Dan Connell and Gloucester artist Susan Erony.

“Democracy Now” recently interviewed Ai to talk about the film - which is preceded by a video portrait of his life’s work,

If I were not very careful to keep up with this board, I would never have known about Tiger's goose!

I’m wondering if Cape Ann TV field tested their rebranding to become “1623 Studios” - 1623 was the founding of Gloucester and NOT Cape Ann.

I understand that CATV has another signed ten year contract.

Also I’m told that the long time (the 1980s) Cable TV committee disbanded. I don’t know about the gommitttes for Manchester, Essex or Rockport.

One of my nice younger FB friends just posted a pic from an "80's night" event he is at.  80's night?  BTW...I didn't recognize the outfits as anything I would have worn or seen in the 80's!  But still trying to wrap my head around the fact that people are having 80's nights! Next up...Y2K nights...as an app developer maybe I will even host one of those someday.

So apparently one could be off someplace warm floating in a rainbow unicorn... (and they probably would have had me at pink flamingo but rainbow unicorn is so much better). pool-floats-1520603834.jpg

                        Sorry, Mousie!

I visited my rustic abode in the woods in up north after long abandonment.
It is exciting to see footprints in the snow and mud all around outside the house....
unknown creatures that I never see, but it is nice to know that they often visit.

It looks busy with animals. Lots of criss-crossing of tracks.
Some big prints that I can't quite identify. Foxes and Coyotes, I think, and who knows what else.
I think I might get one of those motion detection cameras that hunters use and strap it on a tree.

Found a dead mouse floating in the toilet, in the pink antifreeze I use to winterize!
I felt bad about the horrible trap I set for him by accident! Animals like the taste of antifreeze

I am sure there are still plenty of mice at my cabin in
Franconia but new humans are living there now.

Sorry about the mouse, DM.  We've had 2 indoor critter stories at our NH place.  One was a cute little chipmunk that decided to come in with us and then didn't want to leave.  Finally got it to run out of my bedroom and out the door.

The other critter came to a bad end.  My brother went to my place for a few days and when he picked up the toilet lid there was a dead squirrel in there...it had somehow gotten into the septic system and wound up there.  The only positive thing I can say about that is that it is a good thing it was my brother who found it because I'm pretty sure that would have killed me!

For those who read on a tablet, TidBits has a pretty good article on the psychology/neurophysiology of reading as well as suggestions for how to optimize an iPad for reading.

http://tidbits.com/article/17850

It is written for the iPad, but I bet most other tablets can do at least SOME of the things the iPad can.

There are some technologies that I am not sure I want.  Like self-driving cars.  RIP Arizona pedestrian.

I've been talking on FB with friends about this since the accident and one friend lives in an area where she sees self-driving cars a lot and she is getting very comfortable with them.  I realize that overall statistics will be that these cars reduce accidents...I think part of my discomfort is that the car might not always weigh the same factors in the same way as a human would.  There are some vehicles people drive for pleasure and of course motorcycles.  The self-driven cars must be programmed to navigate safely around those too.  I wonder how long before that is mostly what we have?

We finally have justice and closure for Puppy Doe, one of the worst animal abuse cases I've ever heard of. I have absolutely no empathy for Czerkawski and hope that the court throws the book at him. People who hurt innocent animals are a special kind of evil and he will rightly suffer in prison.

I love your ... thread, Leland.  Perfect for a thought that doesn't need a thread of its own.

Easter/Passover...I am not religious since childhood but was raised Catholic with a Lutheran contingent as well.  My favorite religious holiday was always Easter.  I don't think it was the new coat, bonnet, dress and patent leather shoes.  I think it was the time of year...the sun, flowers starting to bloom.  And the Easter baskets didn't hurt either.  Never got up for a sunrise service...8AM is early enough for me...but that must be really something.
