I posted a slide show from our loop out of Snowbank in June. It was an 11-day trip and allowed us to keep up a comfortable pace.
Actually, I posted 2 slide shows. The Short Version is 8 minutes and has most of my favorite photos but not the daily maps or as many campsite shots or captions.
The Long Version is 16 minutes and more captions and information but maybe not as easy watching.

Pretty sure my BWCA days are done, so I really enjoy seeing such nice slideshows. I have been on almost all that water.

Glad you enjoyed watching. We also did most of this route in six days in 1991... it was nice to spread it out over 11 days this year. We are trying to take as many trips as possible, because we know our tripping days are limited too.

This is a question about number of people on this route - I have gone in this area before but thought I remember having a hard time finding open campsites, and crowds on portages .
How was it in June when you went ?

We didn't have crowding on portages. Ensign, Disappointment and Ima lakes were very full... maybe 70% occupancy. Knife Lake along the border, had about a 50% occupancy rate. Finding a good camp site on the other lakes was not a problem. Keep in mind this is for the first week of June, I expect later in the month will be more crowded.

sigh.... I couldn't make it this year... for sure next year. I'm interested to know what were those collapsing chairs you brought. Snowbank is one lake that I always thought was very windy..I've been wind bound on Fall lake too. Seems like there is quite a bit of slash still left over from the wind storms, especially south and west of Knife? Thanks for sharing!

...the plan I have kicking around in my head is realistic. Looking at the map, I see the "windbound day 1", there for camping on Snowbank itself the first day...my thought was to start on Snowbank (though from Smitty's, not too much difference) and get to Knife first night. But I see on your map, Gary, that the general area I was thinking for night 1 was actually your camp on night 4. Is my thought of night 1 on Knife unrealistic, if conditions are not more windy than usual?
