Sapper Donald Somerville of both the 20th Field Company, R.C.E. and the 23rd Field Company, R.C.E. passed away in his home yesterday at the age of 94. He was a veteran of WWII and participated in Operation Berlin and Operation Duck. For both of these operations and other operations, he operated a Storm Boat while under fire.

I fortunately got to know him over the ten years and I enjoyed his stories and sense of humour. He was an easy man to interview and was only too delighted to scan his memory for forgotten details. He will be missed! May he R.I.P.
