I am looking for any information about Pte. Gary Marks who died in July 1969 while posted to Soest. He and my father were the best of friends when they were teens and young adults. Gary joined the forces and my father married my mom and started a family. Gary apparently died in a vehicle accident. His mother wanted to pay to have his remains sent home to Canada for burial but the Army said no. If anyone reading this knew Gary and can shed some light on what happened, it would be appreciated. If anyone has any old pictures of Gary it would be wonderful full for my dad to see. My dad had written Gary a letter to give him news of my birth and such and had his letter returned, unopened and stamped with the word Deceased on it. Quite an awful experience as you can imagine. Anyhow, this is just a shot in the dark but I'm hoping someone who knew Gary might see this post. Thank you.
