She says she'll do it if Lynch wants her... http://www.vulture.com/2014/10/twin-pea ... y-now.html

She had one of my favorite lines in the Season 1 finale, when gagged Shelly is crying and begging for Catherine's help in escaping the fire - "I can't understand a word you're saying. You have a thing in your mouth." Yes. Yes, she did.

The 'Fumio Yamaguchi' thing didn't fool me for a second, but I know it got some people.

Six months later... Looks like this is dead. Showtime and Lynch couldn't come to terms... Odd that it was announced at all, then...

Shit.

Not that I'm totally surprised but it is odd that it was announced with much fanfare when there were still things to work out.

Hm.

>> Dear Facebook Friends, David wanted me to pass along the following statement:

Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks.

After one year and four months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.

This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing.

Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime.

I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.

Obviously, the appeal of nine hours all directed by Lynch was huge. But if it's still a Lynch/Frost script... Yeah, I want to see it.

Tim Hunter did the best three episodes of the series that Lynch did not... the middle one, with Leland's death, was tremendous. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006853/ Six of Mad Men, one of Deadwood, one of Breaking Bad... the film River's Edge is an underrated 80s gem...

He'd be my pick.

“We were saddened to read David Lynch‘s statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. Showtime also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.” —Showtime Networks

Really curious as to HOW far apart they are on the budget...

Is this some kind of negotiation tactic?

Possibly, but after sixteen months of negotiations... and fans have been stressing since word broke of 'complications' last month... I don't know. I don't think Lynch would be calling the cast and telling them he's not directing if he didn't mean it... And sure, Showtime is GOING to say they were 'working towards solutions', but... Hm. 'Few remaining deal points'...

Maybe it'll work out.

21 years of 'maybe' on getting the FWWM deleted scenes out to the public, there was no reason to think a revival would go super-smoothly...

Fingers crossed.

I'm glad the scripts are written...that to me gives a bit of hope. The situation though is very frustrating...

The cast has put together a Facebook protest page, and Madchen Amick has put together this 'Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like...' video. It's cool.

If they had Lynch involved in the entire show, but not the director of every episode, I think I'd be okay with that. He didn't direct all of the original run of the series.
