Sad to see Hartley go. I do enjoy his Adam but I suspected this was coming since his primetime show got picked up. I'm getting a little sick of all the recasts for Adam.

Y&R: Fall preview

“This fall is all about secrets and reveals,” promises Executive Producer/Head Writer Charles Pratt, Jr. “Some of the secrets have been festering for months! New secrets will emerge and unholy alliances will storm Genoa City!”

Victor: “Victor is putting his family back together, one child at a time. He can’t stay out of their lives, but will uncover some truths and help them get their relationships in order. He doesn’t always do things in an entirely orthodox way, but if it benefits his children, we know he’ll do just about anything.”

Nick: “Nick makes a promise to a friend that will turn his life upside down. Or maybe it’s right-side up. There is always hope on his horizon. Nick’s power is he always lands on his feet.”

Adam/Chelsea: “Expect nothing but surprises in this story. Secrets too huge to even hint at. Adam’s love for Chelsea will grow to new heights, as it’s Adam versus the world to protect his family.”

Jack/Phyllis/Billy/Victoria: “Brash & Sassy is our favorite arena. It will rise to the top as a place where romance simmers, and scandal brews. Victoria and Billy are like moths to the flame. Jill was right to put them together, working side by side. They’re the two most compatible people around, if they can just stay out of their own ways. As for Jack, you can’t fool him for too long, or he gets suspicious. And when he gets suspicious, he’s rarely wrong.”

Chloe/Kevin/Mariah: “Chloe’s thirst for vengeance reaches a new plateau, erupting in a plume of new secrets. Chloe has always had secrets, and no one keeps them better. Kevin is caught between two women, no doubt about it. There’s his rich past with Chloe, his love of her child, Bella, and at the same time, a friendship with Mariah is something he can’t let go of. Yes, in a perfect world he may want both. Let’s hope he doesn’t blow it with both on the way there!”

Devon/Hilary: “If there’s a scandal in town — and there’ll be several — expect them to be in the middle of it!”
Ashley: “Fiercely defensive, she is out to protect her brothers, out of instinct and family loyalty. Of course that spells nothing but trouble for Ashley, always between those two men and their complicated lives. She remains the lone voice of reason, if they will just open up to her.”
Sharon/Dylan: “They are on pretty solid ground right now, but there is the secret of Sully. Expect a dramatic turn or two.”

Confirmed! Chuck Pratt is out as head writer at Y&R

Soaps.com has confirmed that Chuck Pratt is out as headwriter at “The Young and the Restless,” as TVLine is reporting that he has been named showrunner and executive producer of Lee Daniel’s “Star.” The news comes mere months after Mal Young replaced Jill Farren Phelps as executive producer at Y&R, and rumors of Pratt's possible exit began to circulate at that time. The head writers departure also comes amid ongoing fan dissatisfaction with plot-driven storylines.

Charles Pratt Jr.’s previous credits include “All My Children,” “General Hospital,” “Santa Barbara,” and primetime’s “Melrose Place.”

Sally Sussman named new head writer of The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless has named Sally Sussman as its new head writer. Sussman returns to the show that she helped make the top-rated soap on television. Sussman will take over duties vacated by Charles Pratt Jr.
It's a homecoming, of sorts, at The Young and the Restless as the top-rated CBS soap has named Emmy and Writers Guild Award winner Sally Sussman as its new head writer. The announcement comes just days after it was revealed that Charles Pratt Jr. had exited daytime to take on a new project in prime time.

"Sally was part of the team that first brought Y&R to its long-standing position as America's #1 daytime drama and brings with her years of experience writing serialized storylines," Steve Kent, senior executive vice president of programming for Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement. "Her long-standing familiarity with the citizens of Genoa City and her great storytelling make her a perfect choice to take the reins at Y&R."

Sussman has extensive writing experience on both episodic and daytime drama series. In fact, after working for several years as a writer on various programs, in 1983, Sussman was hired to work with William J. Bell on The Young and the Restless. Sussman was with Y&R for five years, serving as story consultant and later associate head writer. During her time with Y&R, she was nominated for three Emmy Awards.

Sussman eventually parted ways with Y&R and created NBC's groundbreaking daytime drama Generations, where she served as head writer and executive producer for the series' entire run. She later also made history as the executive producer of MTV's first scripted series, Spyder Games.

Most recently, Sussman completed her first documentary feature, Midnight Return: The Story of Billy Hayes and Turkey, which had its World Premiere as part of Cannes Classics at the Festival De Cannes 2016.

Sussman was also part of the Y&R writing team from 2005 to 2006.

"We are thrilled to have Sally return to The Young and The Restless, both as an award-winning writer, and someone who is passionate about honoring the legacy of the series with character driven story," added Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution. "The powerhouse partnership of Sally and Mal Young, our talented new Executive Producer, sets an even brighter course for daytime's #1 drama."
