Well, he IS a real pro, but... right, super-tragic life, a very Sad Clown, and when you see, like, that he was cutting himself on the night of the ‘lockbox’ Gore sketch... wow.

Haven’t read his book, but I’ll get it one of these days. Would love to see the one-man show. Will definitely see the documentary when it’s finished..

I do like his Trump better than Baldwin’s. But I do get Lorne wanting that ‘edge’... Darrell’s WAS a lot milder...

Couple weeks ago - Fred as Michael Wolff was a popular suggestion after Wolff’s numerous talk show appearances, so that was a ‘yay, they did it’... Bill Murray as (unmasked) Bannon was an inspired surprise.

-
Tonight was Will Ferrell’s fourth time up as host.
35th appearance as W on SNL.
5th appearance of Update character Jacob Silj, and first since 4/14/01.

Thought we might see a few more classic characters or alums, but nope, not this time (aside from a quickie taped flash of Tracy Morgan in ‘The House’). Pretty solid show, though... I especially liked the ‘Aziz conversation’ sketch, and the teen film critic on Update.

The promo with Leslie wearing Will’s characters’ outfits was really funny.

I love this. >> I could go out on the street, stand on any corner and tap 10 people on the shoulder. And all 10 of them, in all likelihood, would be more qualified — ethically, morally, intellectually and spiritually — than Trump.

Ha.... and it got a response from the orange one this morning -

I hate to agree with Trump about anything (in preferring Darrell's impression). But we know HE only likes him better because Hammond is kinda sympathetic to him...

I do think Alec should quit if it's such 'agony' for him, if it's so unpleasant... but I don't think he can give up how much it bothers Trump.

It's lovely... we have a 'president' who has hosted SNL twice, but is now so vehemently upset with their portrayal of him. Very funny.

I'd rather Lorne put Darrell back in (if he were willing...) than anybody else in the current cast, but... best case scenario, of course, the show doesn't NEED a Trump any more...

I don't know if it's the difference between 'recorded' and 'live', or if Darrell was just in a better mood than usual this week, but the opening cast announcements had a lot more energy to it...
