The role of Diane has been around for like 20 years. I have only seen her played by 2 actresses but it was never a 'beloved" character. Its not like recasting a Kay, Nikki, Ashley, Lauren... This is a perfect fit for MW. It will make the Diane character beloved!

Yeah, I looked it up.... almost THIRTY years... (never a regular Y&R watcher, but I know a lot of the names from osmosis and Mom-who-watches).

Alex Donnelley (1982 to 1986, 1996 to February 2001)
Susan Walters (November 2001 to October 4, 2004; February 26 to 27, 2010)

I know Walters from Seinfeld ("Oh... Delores!"). And I guess I saw her in Point Pleasant, but I don't remember...

I agree, ScorpioWW; I don't think the recast will be a difficult one. The previous Dianne hasn't been a regular on the show in six years, so I think this transition will be easy enough for MW. I look forward to it! Can't wait 'til 10/8!

My only issue is the age thing. Maura will be playing with actors a lot older than her. To accept it, we'll have to not think about anything in the 80s (which I didn't see or else it would be a lot harder.)

That's pretty much how Y&R goes these days. It doesn't have to make sense, just as long as they have some kind of storyline in place. We're supposed to believe Lauren and Jill now share the same father. Neil Fenmore must have been active at an early age!

I think MW is great. But I'm not convinced this recast is any smarter than replacing Vail Bloom with Eden Riegel. Just feels like more stunt casting. Congrats to MW for getting a job in this shrinking daytime landscape, though.

Eden reigel hasn't really gelled with me as Heather. She doesn't seem like Paul's daughter.

And while the age difference might be a bit much it is no where near as bad as everyone believing Cane was Phillip III when he was clearly much younger. So dumb.

I am just soooo grateful that I will get to see MW :) That is one of the things I was really sad about. She is such a wonderful actress she can pull anything off. Putting her and Phyllis in any scene together will surely bring some HUGE fireworks! Damn?!? Did yall see how nuts Phyllis was!? LOVE IT!
