Took awhile to get the announcement, since the news broke on 10/19 (but feels longer than that, somehow), but it has seemed pretty 'sure thing' since people spied the sets being reconstructed and painted...

This is #2 on my Ecstatic To See Return list, after Twin Peaks, but above Arrested Development, the Veronica Mars movie, 24 (the first time), X-Files, and the theoretical 24-with-new-characters that has been piloted (Heroes and Full House aren't shows that matter to me...).

Memories of beginning to binge GG... This lovely, small town, sweet and funny almost modern-day equivalent to The Waltons, and we started watching it the same weekend we started our binge of Nip/Tuck, one of the sickest and most depraved shows to ever be on basic cable... It was a great contrast.

Geez, that would be like whiplash!

I've been catching some of the reruns on Up (I think). Season Seven wasn't TERRIBLE upon rewatch.

It wasn't 'TERRIBLE', no, (and I haven't rewatched, just remember at the time), it was just missing that 'spark' of specialness... The dialogue was off (like West Wing without Sorkin, especially at first). The characters behaved similarly (the actors made it all work fine), but I know the plot didn't go where AS-P wanted it to go, and since she was pretty much 'fired'/'removed' from her own show (it was a money thing, if I remember right - wiki says she wanted a short break, additional writers (that's money), and a two-year renewal, which was probably the heaviest straw), it's easy to be unhappy with WB/CW for it... But sure, the guy (David Rosenthal) who inherited the job didn't fuck things up TOO badly... It just wasn't 'his' show. Nobody could have done it 'right', because it wasn't their show, and Author's Voice mattered a LOT here...

This is a great vindication/redemption for AS-P and the cast.

(I know some fans, particularly L/L shippers, were all upset with HER over Season 6, but I wasn't one of them..)

Melissa McCarthy is saying nobody has asked her... Amy didn't write anything for her assuming she'd be too busy/unavailable (expensive?), but will write her in if she wants to drop by...

Hope that gets worked out.

Part 2 of the AS-P interview http://tvline.com/2016/02/02/gilmore-gi ... ess-logan/

MA >> Who’s coming back, who isn’t…

AS-P >> Deals are not done yet. [Laughs] Even though we’re filming tomorrow. This is why I’m 100 years old.

Damn. Stressful to the extreme...

>> We’ve also had certain storylines we had to [tweak] because, apparently, there are still budgetary restrictions in Hollywood. I don’t understand that. I sort of feel like, “This is the story I want to tell, and somebody should just pay for it.” [Laughs] Apparently, it doesn’t work like that. Very irritating. So, certain storylines — one of which involved one of the boys — had been taken out of our hands. We’re still dealing with who’s going to be in it. We definitely want to see them. And we have storylines planned. I just need someone to tell me they’re going to show up.

Wonder what's going to be lost, that she would have liked to have done...

>> My preference would be they would not be released at once, because I feel like there’s going to be anticipation, and I think the diehard fans would enjoy it more with a little separation.

I wonder if that will happen. Sepinwall's interview with Sarandos was pretty definite - all-at-once IS their firm policy (pretty cool that they'll have Better Call Saul week-to-week this season, though...)

I don't remember if I told you this before... There are two episodes I haven't seen. Dvr glitch when we were marathoning daily airings on ABC Family, so we relied on recaps, and even after we got the dvds, we didn't go back for that 'closure'... I need to look up which season, even... All I know was the big thing was Lane doing Rory's hair (or was it the other way around...?) - that one, and either the one before or after it... I'll watch sometime before the new ones (also rewatch the finale of 7, I think...)

153 in 7 seasons, 4 mini-movies to come (bet at least a couple of them WILL be bigger than 90 minutes... She's worried about them going long, but I think they'll get some leeway on the running times..)
