LOL... I don't think anyone seriously thought he'd have it done.
GRRM wrote: Look, I never thought the series could possibly catch up with the books, but it has.

He's probably the only one who thought that.

Comment I saw was fun reminding about how out of touch with reality GRRM was on his expectations... He thought books 4 & 5 would be three years of show (okay, reasonable enough a thought if GOT were going to go for MORE than ten years and the adaptation was going to be AS detailed as the books) and instead, both books gave us just one season...

Yeah, he thinks HBO is going to have the same attitude of 'it will be done when it's done' like he has about his writing. I totally understand GRRMs POV that you can't force Art and must instead serve it. But it's funny that he thought a commercial television show would have such standards.

It sort of connects with our thread with the discussion of the industry's new attitude about cancellations though. In some respects, in some ways, in the long run, it will be better for the business and the bottom line if the industry DOES respect the artistic integrity of the material moreso than it often does.

Soooooooooooooooo.... Free HBO was supposed to end for me Jan. 1st. But it hasn't. I expect them to end it in march, naturally. :P

I am expecting to be out for GoT. I really am interested in a couple of the characters, but not in rape as background. Or plot. Or character development. It's just too gratuitous and oppressive and frankly offensive.

I sure would like to see the Tom McCarthy GoT pilot (different Cersei, different Dany)... Would be a fun curiosity.

I'm starting to panic that I no longer have HBO.
